Pivotally Or Rotatably Mounted Member Locks Or Places Securing Part Into Securing Condition Patents (Class 439/838)
  • Patent number: 8727819
Abstract: A contact clamp for connecting a conductor end with an electrical contact and having an insertion side, from which the conductor end can be inserted in the contact clamp, comprising a retaining frame with a contact section, with which the conductor end can establish a contact, as well as a clamping leg, which is pivotally mounted in the retaining frame and can be pivoted back and forth between an open pivot position and a closed pivot position. The clamping leg runs at an angle to the contact section when in the closed pivot position, and is resiliently movable, such that the conductor end can be inserted in the contact, subject to the elastically spring-loaded opening of the clamping leg, to the target contact position, when in the closed pivot position.

Abstract: The power supply and cooling provided by existing aircraft system line replaceable units (LRUs) or other devices supports new cards that are installed in previously empty slots or which replace existing original cards and which are not limited in functionality and do not require licensing of any proprietary technology included in the LRU. These new cards can include components such as processors, memory, and/or storage that significantly improve the performance of the LRU, and/or add new functionality—all without exceeding the power supply and cooling capability of the LRU. A network and avionics bus interface can be added to a portion of the new card and electrically coupled to the circuitry and electronic components on the new card, so that one or more cables connected to the interface can be connected to externally accessible standard avionics buses and network connectors added to a chassis of the LRU.

  • Patent number: 5951595
Abstract: A connector assembly mounted on an implantable cardiac stimulation device has an actuator mechanism for fixing and sealing electrical leads inserted into lead receptacles within the connector assembly without the use of setscrews. Fixing and sealing of the leads is accomplished by compressing resilient lead lock seals of O-ring shape, disposed in annular recesses, with lip portions of a plunger drawn toward the molded support by the actuator mechanism. In a first embodiment of the actuator mechanism, rotation of a cam actuator transversely journaled within the support, using a torque wrench or similar tool, moves a cam slide attached to the plunger through a fixed displacement between lock and unlock positions as an offset camming portion of the actuator engages the surfaces of a slot within the cam slide.

  • Patent number: 5588883
Abstract: A connecting device having a fastening ring which has an elliptical cross-section and a slot. Projections 18 are on the inner surface of major axis portions of the fastening ring. An outer ring, which also has an elliptical cross-section, larger than the fastening ring and from which a lever projects, is fitted around the outer surface of the fastening ring. When the fastening ring is initially placed on a post, the minor axis portions and the projections on the major axis portions contact the outer surface of the post. When the outer ring is rotated 90.degree. clockwise by means of the lever, the minor axis portions of the outer ring bear against the outside of the major axis portions of the fastening ring, thereby pressing them inwardly. In this way, the fastening ring is tightened and the slot narrows as a consequence. As a result, the fastening ring is securely attached to the post.

  • Patent number: 5401194
Abstract: A cable clamp includes first and second jaws, each having a respective cable clamping portion and tail. The first jaw is pivotably mounted to the second jaw to move between a cable receiving open position, in which a cable can be inserted between the cable clamping portions, and a cable clamping closed position, in which the cable is clamped between the cable clamping portions. A first opening is formed in one of the tails, and a raised boss is formed on the other of the tails. This raised boss is positioned to fit within the first opening when the jaws are in the closed position, and the raised boss includes a threaded opening. A threaded fastener is mounted in the threaded opening, and this threaded fastener applies closing forces on the tails as the threaded fastener is rotated into the threaded opening, thereby moving the jaws to the closed position.

Abstract: An electrical connector of extreme simplicity for coupling leads of a fetal scalp electrode to a cable of an electrical signal monitor. The connector includes a plurality of electrically isolated wiring frame components derived from a single wiring frame and thereafter insert molded into a connector body. The wiring frame components include a pair of signal pathways passing through the connector body to couple each lead of the fetal electrode to a corresponding conductor in the cable and a reference pathway through the connector body for effecting an electrical reference coupling with the body of the patient and communicating a reference voltage through the cable to the monitor. Integrally formed on the connector body is a pivotable lead retention wing and thereon a lead retention stub. By pivoting the retention wing into a position adjacent to the connector body, the retention stub along with a lead of the fetal scalp electrode is received and clamped into a lead retention recess.

  • Patent number: 4711510
Abstract: A multiwire electrical connector for making electrical connections between the tractor and trailer of a tractor-trailer rig. The connector has two members, each with a set of mating connector elements (e.g., spherical balls and mating spherical recesses). A flange-locking means is provided for locking the two connector members together; one member is pressed against the other along an axial direction, and the members are rotated relative to one another until radially-extending flanges engage flange receptacles. Spring means in at least one member urge the mating connector elements tightly against each other along the axial direction, to assure continuous electrical contact between the connector elements. The spring means also cooperates with the flange-locking means to provide resistance to axial compression of the members toward one another, thereby providing tight, vibration-resistant engagement of the locking flanges and flange receptacles.
