  • Patent number: 8559183
Abstract: The power supply and cooling provided by existing aircraft system line replaceable units (LRUs) or other devices supports new cards that are installed in previously empty slots or which replace existing original cards and which are not limited in functionality and do not require licensing of any proprietary technology included in the LRU. These new cards can include components such as processors, memory, and/or storage that significantly improve the performance of the LRU, and/or add new functionality—all without exceeding the power supply and cooling capability of the LRU. A network and avionics bus interface can be added to a portion of the new card and electrically coupled to the circuitry and electronic components on the new card, so that one or more cables connected to the interface can be connected to externally accessible standard avionics buses and network connectors added to a chassis of the LRU.

  • Patent number: 5951595
Abstract: A connector assembly mounted on an implantable cardiac stimulation device has an actuator mechanism for fixing and sealing electrical leads inserted into lead receptacles within the connector assembly without the use of setscrews. Fixing and sealing of the leads is accomplished by compressing resilient lead lock seals of O-ring shape, disposed in annular recesses, with lip portions of a plunger drawn toward the molded support by the actuator mechanism. In a first embodiment of the actuator mechanism, rotation of a cam actuator transversely journaled within the support, using a torque wrench or similar tool, moves a cam slide attached to the plunger through a fixed displacement between lock and unlock positions as an offset camming portion of the actuator engages the surfaces of a slot within the cam slide.

  • Patent number: 5588883
Abstract: A connecting device having a fastening ring which has an elliptical cross-section and a slot. Projections 18 are on the inner surface of major axis portions of the fastening ring. An outer ring, which also has an elliptical cross-section, larger than the fastening ring and from which a lever projects, is fitted around the outer surface of the fastening ring. When the fastening ring is initially placed on a post, the minor axis portions and the projections on the major axis portions contact the outer surface of the post. When the outer ring is rotated 90.degree. clockwise by means of the lever, the minor axis portions of the outer ring bear against the outside of the major axis portions of the fastening ring, thereby pressing them inwardly. In this way, the fastening ring is tightened and the slot narrows as a consequence. As a result, the fastening ring is securely attached to the post.

Abstract: A multiwire electrical connector for making electrical connections between the tractor and trailer of a tractor-trailer rig. The connector has two members, each with a set of mating connector elements (e.g., spherical balls and mating spherical recesses). A flange-locking means is provided for locking the two connector members together; one member is pressed against the other along an axial direction, and the members are rotated relative to one another until radially-extending flanges engage flange receptacles. Spring means in at least one member urge the mating connector elements tightly against each other along the axial direction, to assure continuous electrical contact between the connector elements. The spring means also cooperates with the flange-locking means to provide resistance to axial compression of the members toward one another, thereby providing tight, vibration-resistant engagement of the locking flanges and flange receptacles.
