Abstract: To simplify connection between electrical apparatuses, a connecting bar has been developed wherein the connection interfaces are flat. The connection devices comprise a conducting insert in a compressible insulating elastomer molded from casting, which is coated with a shielding. The connecting surfaces of the conducting inserts are located withdrawn with respect to the connection surfaces of the insulating support. When connection is performed, the insulating surfaces come into contact, compression is then performed enabling the interface to be made air-tight, while at the same time bringing the conducting surfaces into contact. The assembly is kept compressed by means of a central screw which is preferably associated with a blanking device of cover type for the connection surface not used for electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 6719595
Abstract: According to the invention, an at least partially insulated strand of a battery terminal connection cable is either welded to a contact piece using ultrasound or is welded with a contact piece. As a result, the contact piece can be fastened onto the battery terminal using a conventional screw without worrying about the screw becoming loose. The battery terminal connection cable can be produced in an easy and at least partially automated manner using a device which comprises a sonotrode, a strand feed device, a contact piece feed device, and a pressure cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6533594
Abstract: A robotic tool changer for the transfer of a secondary current across a master module and a tool module capable of being mated together. In one embodiment, the electrical contacts on the two modules, comprising a pair of contacts with a flat plate for electrical contact and a vertical connector tab for connection to a cable, are generally the same size and shape and are interchangeable. Both sets of contacts are slideably mounted on their respective modules, and can be moved laterally relative to each other to alter the size of a gap formed between the connector tabs, to fit a variety of kickless cable terminals. The contacts on the master module may connect directly to a kickless cable terminal, and are thus cooled by a water cooling system of the kickless cable. The contacts on the tool module may connect to a pair of shunt cables. The tool module contacts are moveable from a retracted to an extended position relative to the tool module, and are biased towards the extended position by springs.

Abstract: In order to waterproof a terminal connecting portion of a sheathed wire, in which a terminal fitting and a bare conductor of the sheathed wire are connected with each other, the terminal connecting portion of the sheathed wire is placed into a molding cavity of a molding die such that a bottom face of the terminal connecting portion is closely brought into contact with one of inner faces of the molding cavity. Then molten molding resin is injected into the molding cavity such that a bottom face of a solidified molding resin and the bottom face of the terminal connecting portion define an identical plane.

  • Patent number: 6441297
Abstract: The invention relates to a solar cell arrangement consisting of series-connected solar subcells. Said solar subcells consist of a semiconductor wafer which forms a common base material for all of the solar subcells and wherein a number of recesses are provided for delimiting the individual, series-connected solar subcells. The invention is characterised in that at least some of the recesses extend from the top surface of the semiconductor wafer, through the wafer itself to the bottom surface and in that at most some bridge segments are left in continuation of the recesses as far as the wafer edge, to mechanically interconnect the solar subcells.

  • Patent number: 6398595
Abstract: A battery (B) includes electrodes (11a, 11b) and engaging portions (10a, 10b) formed by recessing portions of the battery (B) around the electrodes (11a, 11b), and recesses (14a, 14b, 23a, 23b) are formed in side surfaces of the engaging portions (10a, 10b). The recesses (14a, 14b, 23a, 23b) are symmetrically arranged in the left and right engaging portions (10a, 10b). Transversely symmetrical identification pieces (19a, 19b) project from the leading ends of terminals (15a, 15b). In the case of a correct correspondence of the electrodes (11a, 11b) and the terminals (15a, 15b), the identification pieces (19a, 19b) fit into the recesses (14a, 14b, 23a, 23b), enabling assembling of the terminals (15a, 15b) with the electrodes (11a, 11b). In the case of an incorrect correspondence, the identification pieces (19a, 19b) cannot be fitted into the recesses (14a, 14b, 23a, 23b) and interfere with the upper surface of the battery (B), making assembling impossible.

  • Patent number: 6361384
Abstract: An eyelet terminal for holding a bolt in a pre-set position relative to a mounting member wherein the threaded portion of the bolt is proximate a female threaded portion of the mounting member. In this pre-set position, the bolt is on the verge of engagement with the female threaded portion so that rotation of the bolt causes it to immediately begin to engage the female threaded portion. The terminal has two generally circular eyelets connected with one another by a spacing member which maintains the two eyelets in a spaced apart and generally parallel relationship. The first eyelet has a plurality of circumferentially spaced tabs projecting radially inward into its aperture to engage a bolt and maintain it in rotatable connection with the terminal such that the bolt shank passes through both eyelet apertures. The second eyelet has retainer prongs extending generally perpendicular therefrom.
