  • Patent number: 6923662
Abstract: An electrical connector has an insulative housing with a mounting surface that is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to a plane perpendicular to an engagement direction with another connector. A plurality of contacts is arranged in the insulative housing. Each contact has a tine that extends parallel to the engagement direction for insertion into through-holes of a circuit board. An aligning member is attached to the insulative housing. The aligning member has a plurality of apertures for receiving and aligning the tines and standoffs that reduce bending stress applied to the tines. The standoffs abut the circuit board so that the aligning member inclines at an angle less than the predetermined angle when the insulative housing is mounted on the circuit board to reduce bending stress applied to the tines.

  • Patent number: 6893267
Abstract: A USB plug with a multi-directional rotation structure, adopted for a portable electronic device, is used for mating with an electronic product having a USB port. The USB plug has a first hollow spherical housing, and a second hollow spherical housing having an internal diameter longer than an external diameter of the first hollow spherical housing for the first hollow spherical housing to be partially wrapped in the second hollow spherical housing. The first hollow spherical housing contacts and slides on the second hollow spherical housing, and adjusts a relative displacement therebetween so as to the second hollow spherical housing rotates in multiple directions. The second hollow spherical housing can be manipulated with no angular limitations, and therefore objects of orientating the USB plug in a suitable attitude and resolving an arrangement of peripheral apparatuses mating with the electronic product are achieved.

Abstract: A housing (10) of a connector has vertical screw holes (14) parallel to a connecting direction of the housing (10) and horizontal screw holes (19) normal to the connecting direction. Thus, the housing (10) is both horizontally and vertically mountable on a circuit board (P), and flexibility in the use of the housing (10) is improved. Further, the horizontal screw holes (19) are normal to the connecting direction and can be formed by a pair of molds movable along the connecting direction. Therefore, costs necessary for the molds can be reduced.
