Abstract: A life jacket vest including a life jacket member having a pair of arm openings and a lining having a pair of sleeve members and a perimeter. The lining is positioned in mating relationship with at least a portion of the life jacket member and is attached along at least a portion of the perimeter of the life jacket member. The sleeve members are received and extend through the openings of the life jacket member and are not attached to the life jacket member. The life jacket member may include a fastener member and a size adjustment member. The lining may include a neck portion and a collar portion. By attaching the lining to the life jacket member in places other than the arm openings, the present life jacket vest allows for a greater range of motion and less constraints in the arm openings of the life jacket member.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cover that is used as a backrest cover in daily use and also as a life jacket in an emergency. More particularly, the present invention relates to a backrest cover including: a front portion configured to cover a front surface of the backrest; a rear portion configured to cover a rear surface of the backrest; a connector configured to extend across an upper end of the backrest, connecting the front and back portions; and a buoyancy body provided in at least one of the front portion, the rear portion, and the connector.
Abstract: Personal flotation devices (PFD's), also known as life jackets, swim vests, etc., including various structures which promote an increased flow of air within the PFD thereby conveying warm, moisture laden air away from the wearer, and allowing at least some ambient air to reach the skin or outer clothing of the wearer. Either or both of at least two modes are provided for fluid passage or “venting.” One fluid passage mode is in directions parallel to an inner side (i.e. “lateral”), with fluid passages being defined by structures such as projections or within various three-dimensional permeable materials, such as spacer fabric. Another fluid passage mode is through an aperture in a buoyant intermediate layer. Depending upon the particular design, a blend or combination of these two modes is achieved.
Abstract: A vest type flotation device having means for holding the flotation device in a folded configuration for transport and storage. In one embodiment a transport and storage strap member is attached substantially at its outer end to one of the right and left sides. The transport and storage strap member has a first portion of a first releasable locking member set attached thereto adjacent its inner end. A second portion of the first releasable locking member set is attached to one of the right and left front portions of the device. A second portion of a second releasable locking member set is attached to the right or left side of the device opposite the side to which the outer end of the transport and storage strap member is attached.
