  • Patent number: 5291674
Abstract: A display formed of two colorless, transparent plastic cylinders mounted concentrically with a vertical axis upon a base. The space between the two cylinders forms a tank which is filled with liquid and some plastic snowflakes having a slightly greater specific gravity than the liquid. An object to be displayed is positioned within the inner cylinder and, so, is not in contact with the liquid. The object and the liquid are illuminated by a light within the base. A motor operates a pump having an uncased spiral rotor projecting vertically downwardly into the liquid. Rotation of the pump causes a diffuse upward flow of the liquid and the snowflakes in the vicinity of the pump. Though this causes the snowflakes to move upwardly in a gentle and diffuse manner, this motion isn't particularly noticed by an observer. When the snowflakes reach the top of the liquid, they are diffused sidewardly and begin dropping, creating a snowfall effect.

  • Patent number: 5256099
Abstract: A hand held toy that releases a fluid when an external pressure is applied to a portion of the toy. The toy includes a cylinder typically shaped as a sword. The sword shaped cylinder has a handle portion that can be easily grasped by a human hand. The cylinder also has a blade portion that is covered by a soft foam material, so that the blade does not injure another participant when struck by the sword. Within the handle portion of the cylinder is a fluid reservoir filled with a pressurized fluid. The reservoir is connected to a valve and a valve piston located at the opposite end of the cylinder. The valve piston and valve are adapted to move from a closed position to an open position, when an external pressure is applied to the piston. Moving the piston and valve into the open position allows fluid to flow from the fluid reservoir, through the valve and into the ambient. The toy also includes a pump connected to the fluid reservoir, so that a user can manually pressurize the fluid.

The ball has a highly plasticized polymeric core which is resiliently deformable due to its highly plasticized state. The polymeric core is encased in a flexible polymer shell and both the core and the flexible shell are further encased in a strechable fabric outer cover.

  • Patent number: 5006089
Abstract: A stuffed animal has a closed fluid containing liner filled with a viscous silicon or silicon/water material. The weight of the silicon/water material gives the animal a life-like weight. The liner is covered by a fur-like plush. The viscous material may be a material used to make a prosthesis of a human organ. If desired a material such as a plastic simulation of a skeleton may be added to give a feel of bone. The "skeleton" may have a plastic memory for causing the animal to retract its leg, paw, or the like after it has been stretched. Small patches of hook and loop fasteners may be used to secure the animal in a desired posture.

  • Patent number: 4990119
Abstract: A simulated baby nursing bottle has spaced inner and outer cylindrical shells providing a narrow annular cavity therebetween in which is disposed a colored liquid. The cap provides a concealed chamber into which the liquid may drain when the bottle is tipped downwardly. The simulated nipple includes an axially reciprocatable portion which acts upon a compressible member communicating with a clear liquid within the inner shell to produce air bubbles and agitation of the liquid within the container when the reciprocatable portion is depressed. In one embodiment, a second compressible member is provided in the bottom of the inner shell which is vented to the atmosphere and which is compressed to expel air therefrom when the first compressible member is compressed by the nipple portion.

  • Patent number: 4986540
Abstract: The game device includes a hollow outer ball and a small relatively heavy mass inside the ball. The mass is a flexible bladder which contains a liquid. When the ball is rolled or projected, the bladder moves around inside and changes shape so that the device travels erratically. In a preferred process of making the game device, all but a filler passageway portion of the flexible bladder is inserted into an outer ball through an inflation opening in the outer ball. Then, in sequence, the liquid is injected into the bladder through its filler passageway, the passageway is sealed, the bladder is fully inserted into the ball, the outer ball is inflated to a desired pressure, and the inflation opening in the outer ball is sealed.

  • Patent number: 4979923
Abstract: A stuffed toy with a heater is disclosed, which comprises a cover configured to resemble a predetermined object and a latent heat storage material disposed in the stuffing in the cover. When the latent heat storage material is heated it undergoes a transition from the solid phase to the liquid phase and stores a heat of dissolution. When it undergoes transition from the liquid phase to the solid phase, it gives off heat so as to maintain the temperature of the toy relatively constant for long periods of time.

  • Patent number: 4976646
Abstract: In accordance with this invention there is provided a toy which engages a member such as a finger or a liquid medicine dispenser. The member acts as a lower jaw for the toy. The toy includes a head with an upper jaw and a body. The body is contiguous to the head and includes a trunk with front and rear limbs extended therefrom. Together, the upper jaw, the body, the front limbs and the rear limbs define a longitudinal passageway which passes through the toy. The toy accommodates the member in this passageway. The front limbs extending down from the front section of the trunk form a portion of the passageway which semi-positively engage the member. The rear limbs extending down from the rear portion of the trunk form a portion of the passageway which positively engage the member.
