  • Patent number: 11433316
Abstract: A heartbeat or pulse generator device is provided separately for use in or in combination with a comfort product such as a plush toy. The heartbeat generator device includes an automatic control system that provides for controlled operation of the heartbeat generator while compensating for natural movements during use. The heartbeat generator device contains a pulse generator to create the motion necessary to cause the heart to “beat” twice early in a beat interval. The heartbeat generator device to increase battery longevity by allowing the generator device to selectively shut off when it senses that the animal or other user is no longer interacting with the product. As the animal interacts, the emulated heartbeat continues. When the animal stops interacting for a period of time, the heartbeat will stop, and battery life is preserved. The heart will restart when motion is detected once again.

In particular, the present toy construction inludes a liquid crystal graphics display mounted on a humanoid torso portion of the action figure. Suitable micro-processor controls are provided which are operatively connected to the graphics display for controlling and regulating the graphic representation of a plurality of simulated life functions shown by the display, thus lending animation to the toy construction. Embodiments of the toy constructon may include interchangeable limbs for connection to the torso portion, as well as light and sound sensors, and light and sound generating devices.

    Patent number: 4737131
Abstract: In a toy, an image of expanding and contracting heart (309',311') is produced by a separate generator (207), or in response to sensing a pulse beat of a child by a sensor (3,403,405), or in response to sensing at least one parameter of environment by environment sensors (511-513).

  • Patent number: 4718876
Abstract: A child calming device comprising, in accordance with the preferred embodiment, a stuffed animal (10) having a pocket (88) within which is contained a heart beat simulating transducer (12) is disclosed. The transducer is actuated by application of pressure to an actuator (22) which is coupled to a switch (30) which drives an electronic circuit (40) contained within the housing (14) of the simulator (12). The power of the "simulated" heart beats may be regulated by adjustment of a potentiometer via a knurled knob (98).

  • Patent number: 4606328
Abstract: Vestibular and tactile responses of a living subject, human or animal, are evoked by positioning in its vicinity a simulated breathing animal, or the like as a pacifying sleeping aid. The simulated animal includes a trunk portion having a variable volume "pleural cavity". A bladder affixed to the back portion cyclically expands and contracts to simulate breathing. A pneumatic pumping system alternately increases and decreases pressure in the bladder to actuate the front or stomach of the simulated animal. Head or other apendages (arms, legs, wings and the like) may be moved by such expansion and contractions. The animal thereby produces actual movement to create a vestibular response and the covering of sheepskin or the like creates a tactile response in the living subject.

  • Patent number: 4605380
Abstract: A doll having a cavity adjacent an inner chest wall of the doll. A solenoid within the cavity is repetitively actuated by a pulse generator within the doll to cause the plunger of the solenoid to strike the inner chest wall, causing sound and vibration which simulate a heartbeat. In another embodiment, a temperature sensor is mounted on a surface portion of the doll to control the pulse rate of the pulse generator.

  • Patent number: 4601668
Abstract: A doll heart monitoring toy includes a doll element, a stethoscope element, an electronic device operative for producing signals imitating at least one characteristic of heart activity and arranged in one of the elements, and a magnetic member arranged to activate the electronic device upon bringing the magnetic member in proximity to the electronic device, or in other words upon bringing the stethoscope close to the heart region of the doll. The electronic device including a sensor and signal generators for activating a sound device and a light device in response to the sensor sensing pulse beats of a user.

  • Patent number: 4585424
Abstract: A toy doll (10), in particular, a toy bear, is provided with a bashful demeanor. The demeanor is enhanced by further providing the bear with apparatus for simulating blushing. The blushing effect is achieved by employing a face plate (12) which includes at least the cheek portions of the face, is tinted red, and transmits light. Illumination (24) is provided by lamps (24a, 24b) behind the face plate. The lamps are activated by a power source (18), such as at least one battery. A variable resistor (38) controls the amount of power to the lamps. The variable resistor is activated by pressing in on the back area (40) and/or the abdominal area (16); the greater the pressure, the more current supplied to the lamps and hence the greater the intensity of light.
