Self-projecting Patents (Class 446/311)
  • Patent number: 11717764
Abstract: A jumping toy and the methodology of creating a cascading arrangement of multiple jumping toys. Each jumping toy has a first segment and a second segment that are connected at a joint. The first segment and the second segment can rotate about the joint between a first configuration and a second configuration. Each jumping toy has a biasing element that biases the jumping toy toward its second configuration. Each jumping toy is stable in its first configuration and quickly transforms into its second configuration once it is slightly displaced out of its first configuration. The rapid change in configuration makes the bi-stable toy jump. A plurality of bi-stable toys can be overlapped into a cascading chain. The first toy in the cascading chain is triggered. The movement of the first toy triggers the next toy in the chain in a cascade.

  • Patent number: 11077380
Abstract: A bi-stable jumping toy that can be operated individually or with other jumping toys in a cascading chain. The toy has a first segment and a second segment that are joined in a scissor configuration. An elastic band extends between the first segment and the second segment. The elastic band biases the toy into the second configuration. However, the first segment and the second segment can be manually rotated into the stable first configuration. In the first configuration, the elastic band is stretched across the pivot axis and provides no rotational bias to either the first segment or the second segment. The toy is triggered by rotating the first segment and/or the second segment only slightly out of the first configuration. Once moved, the spring energy in the elastic band releases and the toy rapidly moves into its second configuration.

  • Patent number: 10478713
Abstract: The jumping toy comprises a puppet, a plurality of springs, and a counter. The counter and the plurality of springs attach to the puppet. The jumping toy is configured for use with a supporting surface. The jumping toy is pressed against the supporting surface such that the plurality of springs is deformed. When the jumping toy is released, each of the plurality of springs returns to its relaxed position such that the jumping toy “jumps” to an elevation above the supporting surface. The counter is a mechanical device. The counter counts the number of times the jumping toy jumps. The puppet is a composite prism structure that visually presents a dynamic expression during the use of the jumping toy.

  • Patent number: 7611397
Abstract: A toy character assembly having a coiled tail spring connected to one of said legs. There is mechanism provided for movably mounting the legs relative to said body portion. A gear train is operated by a motor to move the legs relative to the body portion in a downwardly direction to compress the coiled tail spring and then release the legs and body portion to set up a harmonic motion of the body and spring tail.

  • Patent number: 6488559
Abstract: A bug-like flipping toy is provided having four resilient leg members extending from a substantially horizontal body member with a depression member in the form of an extended posterior portion. Each leg member is a relatively flat elongated plate having a greater width at the point of adjoinment with the body member and tapering to a narrower, radial, distal foot. The leg members are paired into anterior legs and posterior legs with the anterior legs being elongated plates on a horizontal plane and posterior legs being elongated plates on a diagonal plane. An external force placed on the depression member will push the body member downward and cause the anterior legs to extend forward and the posterior legs to abduct due to their angular construction. When the external force is removed the resiliency of the leg members will cause them to rebound into their static positions thereby launching the present invention into a tumbling trajectory.

  • Patent number: 6343969
Abstract: A figure-like toy-projectile and launching platform assembly adapted to propel the figure into space by means of an elastic spring concealed in the figure. The figure whose head forms the nose of the projectile includes arms and legs extending from a torso joined to the head, and an elongated cavity in the torso whose front end is an opening in the crotch between the legs and whose rear end lies in an upper region in the torso in line with the head. Received in the cavity is an elastic spring in the form of a condom having a ring and a stretchable shank, the ring being mounted in the crotch opening. The normal length of the shank is such as to create a space between the end of the shank and the end of the cavity to allow for expansion of the shank.

  • Patent number: 6322417
Abstract: A toy includes a supporting frame having a pair of legs secured to a pair of feet by pivotal attachments. The frame further supports a cockpit within which a removable toy figure is seated. The toy frame further supports an air cylinder which is angled rearwardly and downwardly with respect to the remainder of the frame. A piston having a piston rod is movably supported within the cylinder and defines an outer end which is pivotally secured to a third foot. The pressure end of the air cylinder is coupled by an air tube to a collapsible bellows. Squeezing of the air bellows produces compressed air within the cylinder causing extension thereof which drives the toy upwardly and forwardly from the support surface by the extension of the third foot.

  • Patent number: 6262352
Abstract: A music bell controlling device of a pearl box comprises a controlling device, a rotary shaft, and a gear set, etc. The gear set is installed between the bottom and base of the music bell. An elastomer is installed at the upper end of the longitudinal axis of the rotary shaft; a base end of the rotary shaft passes through the through hole to combine with the gear set. The upper end of the rotary axis is swingable. The longitudinal axis of the rotary shaft passes through the controlling device; and swinging of the rotary shaft will drive the controlling device to shift so that the controlling device confines the rotation of the music bell flywheel. As the upper cover of the pearl box is closed, the upper cover will drive the rotary axis to shift to a predetermined direction so that the swingable rod of the control device will shift. Thus, the swingable rod contact with the flywheel of music box, and thus, the music bell stops.

  • Patent number: 6155904
Abstract: A wrestling doll which functions as an exerciser for a boy playing with the doll and as a surrogate for a wrestling opponent. The doll is composed of a head joined by its neck to a torso from whose shoulder region extend a pair of articulated arm appendages and from whose groin region extends a pair of articulated leg appendages. The wrestling doll is stuffed with compressible material so that it may be comfortably grappled with by the boy player. The head of the doll is spring-biased to resist displacement as are each of the arm and leg appendages. Hence when a boy player free-style wrestles with the doll by manipulating the head as well as the leg and arm appendages, the player exerts various sets of muscles to do so, thereby promoting his general state of fitness.

  • Patent number: 6110050
Abstract: A toy train hopper car has a simulated load which appears to be emptied from a full load position. An electric motor drives a rotatable crank arm which engages a pivot arm connected to a load support that holds the simulated load. A second parallel pivot arm provides added support and follows the first pivot arm. A push button control actuates the motor to move the simulated load from an upper raised full load position to a lower empty load position and to reverse the movement.

  • Patent number: 5194033
Abstract: Disclosed is a stuffed animal toy that is structured for being projected through the air, the toy body having a flexible outer layer with a fur-like exterior, head, neck region, trunk and an elongate tail projecting rearwardly from the trunk, the tail being provided with a plurality of annular folds therealong which allows it to be extendable to a substantially greater length, and an elongate elastic element is mounted entirely within the body of the toy, and extends, in its relaxed condition, from the tip of the tail where one end of the element is secured, to the underside of neck region where the other end of the element is secured. A thumb-grasp is also secured at the underside of the neck region. After grasping the ring with one hand and the tail end with the other hand, the elastic element may be stretched, which action extends the length of the tail. The toy can then be launched through the air by releasing the tail.

  • Patent number: 4714446
Abstract: A toy figure having two torso halves releasably held together by a pair of engaging lips attached to an expandable latch. A cable may be easily inserted into an aperture in the back of the toy figure. A child may then press a cable button which forces an actuator to engage a tab attached to the latch, causing the latch to move or expand. As the latch expands, the engaging lips disengage allowing the torso halves to separate under the force of a compressed spring mounted inside one of the torso halves. As the torso halves separate, the toy figure appears to split in half.
