Patent number: 5290185Abstract: A toy robot which can make realistic movement of boxing. The robot has plural driver devices each having an electric motor. The robot has arms driven by the driver devices. The driver devices are remotely controlled to operate the arms. The robot has a waist and a pillar protruding upward from this waist. One of the driver devices rotates the trunk through a given angle against the action of a return spring. One arm is held to a pivot mounted at one shoulder portion such that the arm can rotate laterally. An operating member is mounted to the pivot. As the trunk turns, the operating member pushes the underside of the bearing portion of the arm. The other arm can be bent at its elbow and consists of an upper arm and a forearm which are joined together by a link. When the upper arm is directed forward, the upper arm and the forearm are made substantially straight. Another driver device rotates the upper arm forwardly from below.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1992Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha BandaiInventor: Seiji Murakami

Patent number: 4844461Abstract: Life size figures are disclosed which game participants can strap themselves to, for the purpose of having a boxing match, via the figures. The figures have heads which can rotate up and back, arms which can be caused to throw punches, and bodies with rollers on the bottom. A game participant straps him or herself to the figure at his or her waist, so that when he or she moves forward, backward or to either side, the figure also moves in the same manner. The figures also have handles extending from their back side, which game participants can grab with their hands, and push on to cause the figure's arms to throw upper-cut and hook etc. punches. When a punch lands on the opponent figure's head, the head rotates up and back and a point is scored. If a very good punch is landed, the head stays back and a knock-out is scored.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1987Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Inventors: Keith E. Namanny, Kerry T. Namanny, Paul P. Patent number: 4564192Abstract: A training apparatus and method for training a martial arts student. A pair of simulated limbs are designed to strike blows against the student in a way that requires great skill on the part of the student to defend against the blows. The blows are directed at the student with considerable force, and from a variety of different angles, thus requiring great dexterity on the part of the student to defend against the blow. The limb members are supported in a way that allows them many degrees of movement. Specifically, the limb members are each connected for universal movement relative to a support. In addition, each of the limb members can pivot relative to the means that connects it for universal movement relative to the support.
