  • Patent number: 9190034
Abstract: A plectrum or guitar pick and method of manufacture thereof. The plectrum has one or more metal edges that are substantially flush/planar with the body of the plectrum. This edge may be an outer edge of the plectrum itself or an inner edge of a cutout punched into the body of the pick. Alternatively, metal can be plated onto the body of the plectrum. The body of the plectrum may be formed of a metal, plastic or other suitable material. The interior of the body may contain customized designs, print, or cutouts that contain metal. The metal edge of the plectrum is capable of being flush with the body through a novel method of manufacturing plectra on metallic (e.g., copper clad) boards. Thus, the body and edges of the plectrum may remain coplanar as if created from the same material, though retaining benefits of being formed of two separate materials.

  • Patent number: 7347762
Abstract: A box-type turkey call has not only a pin that pivotally interconnects the call's base to the call's paddle-like actuator but also a fastener that allows endless disconnection and re-connection of the actuator-to-base connection. That way, the actuator can be rolled over a half a roll to present the opposite broad side thereof for production of calls. The actuator's handle is bored through with a lock hole, which allows insertion of a locking fastener through it that is then tightened into a socket therefor in the call base. This optionally locks the turkey call from squawking when not wanted. Moreover, the call actuator can be disconnected from the original end of the call base and re-connected to the opposite end by virtue of the socket for the locking fastener. Hence, the call actuator can be operatively connected to either end of the call base.

  • Patent number: 7169010
Abstract: A simulated Judge's traditional courtroom gavel appartatus, comprising a sounding-block modified with a preferred plurality of nine cubes, bearing some fifty-four different graphic indicia (one upon each facet), a possibly stressful-situation sensitive word reading for example: “landlord”, “boss”, “step-mom”, “taxes”, “job”, “school”, “lawyer”, “car.” The user thus chooses the desired subject/topic from an assortment of cube selections held within the gavel-housing, then places that selected cube choice face-up into a holding-well formed down into the housing. The user may pause to reflect upon the stressful nature of the subject at hand (ie—“alimony”), —then picking-up the gavel, raises it well above the stressful-word held clearly exposed within the well, and while focusing directly thereto, slams the gavel resoundingly thereupon! This action may obstensibly soothe one's psyche of excess anger or frustration toward that person or object.

  • Patent number: 7163431
Abstract: A toy percussion instrument that is characterized by a novel method of attaching a tether to a striker and/or main instrument body. The new location of attachment enables compliance with stringent safety standards without detracting from the playability of the toy instrument. In particular, two tethered strikers can be provided while still satisfying cord maximum perimeter standards and at the same time allowing an appropriate length of cord to play the instrument without difficulty. The provision of two tethered strikers enables a more realistic instrument while satisfying a parent's preference to have the tethers. In particular, The striker attachment location is spaced inwardly from the ends of the striker, thereby to allow a shorter tether to be used while still allowing the instrument to be played without difficulty.

  • Patent number: 6955582
Abstract: A system and method for generating game sounds in a directionally adjustable manner which includes a friction pan call of the type having a circular flat top playing surface and a plurality of holes on generally opposing sides of a substantially cylindrical sound chamber wall, and a method whereby holes or portion of a hole are successively closed in an incremental rotating manner around the call so as to help to create a sound emulating a moving sound source.

  • Patent number: 6942539
Abstract: An improved sound quality box call. The box call comprises a box and a paddle. The box has a pair of longitudinal walls, a sounding chamber between the walls, and a pair of longitudinally extending upper arcuate edges on the walls respectively. The paddle has a lower surface for engaging the edges for making sounds. The paddle lower surface is longitudinally arcuate and has a contour longitudinally which desirably conforms substantially to the contour longitudinally of the arcuate side wall edges, which allows increased length of contact between the paddle and box side walls whereby to produce a more realistic yelp and better sound quality in both pitch and volume.

  • Patent number: 6929528
Abstract: A wild game call of the box and striking plate variety is provided that can easily produce superior sound variety, sound quality, and volume control with minimal user input. The invention comprises a box with a base portion and substantially vertical sidewalls, which form an opening, and a striking plate, which provides a striking surface, and a bottom surface. The striking plate further includes a main body portion, which is adhered to the sidewalls to form the top of the box, and a protruding portion adjacent the opening, which extends over and beyond the opening. The striking plate provides a striking surface, which may be comprised of a single material, or of multiple friction materials. Hollow structures such as channels and grooves are also provided to alter the sound of the call.

Abstract: A noise maker for sports enthusiasts having two identical sections shaped to replicate the appearance of a sports article such as a baseball. The sections each have an inner and outer shell defining sound chambers. The sections are joined at a common grip. When one section is struck on a surface, a loud, sharp noise emanates. Striker projections on the edge of the shells engage when the device is manipulated to further create sounds.

  • Patent number: 4866492
Abstract: An improved FET is described in which a conductive layer connects the source structure to a truncated source extension which underlies an insulative gate layer and connects to a channel region. The conductive layer is of substantially lower resistivity than the source extension, thereby significantly reducing the lateral resistance of the device to diminish losses and reduce the likelihood of a parasitic bipolar transistor turning on. The invention can be implemented in both vertical and lateral devices. For a lateral device the drain is connected by a low resistance conductive layer to the gate region in a manner similar to the source.
