Patent number: 4889515Abstract: A piggyback toy car and truck assembly in which all four wheels of the car are driven by a battery-powered motor, the truck being of the flat bed type and motorless. The car is switchable from a neutral mode to operation in either the forward or reverse mode, its front and rear wheel axles each having a drive pinion mounted thereon whose teeth are projected below the chassis. Lying on the flat bed of the truck is a ramp having a pair of tracks for accommodating the car wheels. The ramp is slidable from a retracted horizontal position to an extended horizontal position in which the rear half section of the ramp overhangs the rear of the bed and is pivoted therefrom so that it is then free to swing down to form an inclined ramp. With the ramp so inclined, the car in its forward mode climbs up the ramp until it reaches its front end and causes the inclined ramp to return to its horizontal extended position.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1987Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Assignee: Buddy L CorporationInventors: Robert T. Patent number: 4685894Abstract: A toy vehicle having front opening gates and an ejectable flywheel seat which may be used as a gyroscopic top or to propel the vehicle. The flywheel seat is removably mounted to the top of the vehicle. A launching level rotatably coupled to the front axle of the vehicle may be used to simultaneously eject the flywheel seat from the toy vehicle and open two gates at the front of the vehicle. Downward movement of the level causes a tiltable box to rotate resulting in the seat being ejected from the vehicle. Movement of the lever also causes a sliding plate to move forward forcing the front gates to open. A flywheel is rotatably mounted inside the flywheel seat. When the flywheel seat is mounted on top of the vehicle, gears coupled to the front axle and mounted inside the tiltable box cause the flywheel to rotate inside the seat as the front wheels of the vehicle rotate. As such, the kinetic energy of the flywheel may be used to propel the toy vehicle forward.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1986Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Mattel, Inc.Inventors: Janos Beny, Toshio Yamasaki

Patent number: 4461617Abstract: In a wheeled carrier for transporting wafers of semiconductor material during processing, the wheels are non-rotatably mounted on axles and each pair of wheels has either central recesses on their outer faces accepting sub shafts in allignment with the axle, or central stub shafts projecting into recesses in a support structure, for rotation of the wheel/axle assemblies about opposing pairs of stub shafts. The stub shafts, and optionally the inner surfaces of the recesses, are highly polished and shaped to minimize resistance to motion caused by friction between the contact surfaces of the recess and stub shafts since the carrier is made of refractory material such as quartz having a high coefficient of resistance. To minimize accumulation of contaminating particles in the recesses in the wheels, passages are provided through the wheels between the recess and the inner face of each wheel for easier access to the bottom of the recesses.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1982Date of Patent: July 24, 1984Assignee: ASQ Boats, Inc.Inventor: Donghwa Liu
