Patent number: 8827767Abstract: Supportive garments, particularly maternity and post-maternity garments, are provided for support and promoting good posture of a wearer. The garment covers a wearer's torso and at least an upper portion of a wearer's thighs and includes a non-stretchable posterior panel positioned to extend transversely at least over an inter scapular upper back region of a wearer and longitudinally to a wearer's waistline, and connecting across a stretchable body portion that covers a lower torso and extends along a wearer's posterior sides to a shoulder region. An embodiment suitable as a maternity garment includes an abdominal portion having a more stretchable material than surrounding areas, whereas an abdominal portion in another embodiment suitable for post-maternity or slimming supportive wear is more compressive and incorporates cellulite-reducing fibers. A shoulder support portion extends laterally and upwardly from a lower portion of the posterior panel to the shoulder region.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2012Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: House of Layla, Inc.Inventor: Leila Samoodi

Patent number: 7549971Abstract: A garment (1) for providing compressive forces to a torso to help eliminate or reduce swelling caused by an accumulation of lymph fluid in the torso region. An embodiment of the present invention includes an outer covering (10) of compression fabric, wide shoulder straps (22, 24), front and back panels of compression fabric (12, 14, 16, 18), a non-rolling rib band (72), axilla gussets (82, 84), and both front closure (40) and back closure (50). The garment may also include one or more princess seams (102, 104, 102?, 104?) so as to enable the front panel(s) to encapsulate and hold the user's breasts in place at the same time that compressive forces are applied, as well as one or more front shelves (132, 134) in the front panel(s) for providing upward compressive support to the breast tissue, thereby holding the tissue in a proper neutral position so that inward compressive forces acting on the tissue provide maximum effect.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2004Date of Patent: June 23, 2009Assignee: Lightning2 LLCInventors: Lesli R. Patent number: 6361397Abstract: Bosom-support garments such as brassieres reduce interference with lymph flow. A garment according to the invention includes a piece of flexible material which when worn, covers at least a portion of a human female breast, along with means for temporarily relaxing or repositioning the garment relative to the lymph drainage pathways while the garment is worn. The means for temporarily relaxing or repositioning the garment may be passive, in the sense that such means operate through movements by the wearer of the garment, or active, in that manually or automatically operated apparatus are used to control the relaxing or repositioning of the garment.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Inventors: Roy J. Patent number: 6238266Abstract: This invention relates to support garments which provide a support function through the utilization of a dried polyurethane coating placed on certain areas of the target fabric surface. Such a coating produces a reduction in the elongation characteristics of the target fabric thereby exhibiting a manner of providing support to the target fabric which is comfortable to the wearer and inexpensive to produce. The inventive garments may be utilized as sports brassieres, swimwear, “control-top” underwear, girdles, athletic supporters, medical braces, and the like.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2000Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Milliken & CompanyInventor: Kirkland W. Brassieres which facilitate the drainage of lymphatic fluid from the breast area of the human female
Patent number: 6086450Abstract: Bosom-support garments such as brassieres reduce lymph flow interference by providing a pattern of alternating higher and lower skin-compression areas which are configured to follow the direction of the lymph pathways in the various sectors of the breast, side, and/or back areas of the wearer. Preferably the areas of lower skin compression do not actually touch the skin, and the width of and spacing of the pattern may be varied at different areas of the garment to accommodate the comfort of the wearer and to optimize the flow of lymph. The pattern may be defined by elongated ribs of relatively higher density material formed through weaving, compression molding, or other appropriate processes. Such ribs preferably extend generally away from the nipple area of the breast so that the pattern corresponds to lymph drainage pathways leading to the axillary or subclavicular nodes, to an intercostal space, or to a plurality or all of the above.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1999Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Inventor: Roy J.
