Shoulder Strap Arrangements And Connecting Features Patents (Class 450/86)
  • Patent number: 6146239
Abstract: To retain gathered sleeve material of a shirt at a shoulder position of the wearer, a sleeve material retaining loop is attached to or looped around a strap of a brassiere. One end of the material-retaining loop extends out of the neck hole of the outer garment, and another end of the sleeve material retaining loop extends out of the arm hole of the sleeve at a position located above the shoulder of the wearer. The first and second ends of the sleeve material retaining loop are then attached at the shoulder of the wearer to maintain the sleeve in a bunched condition. By this mechanism, the sleeves are removed from interfering with the arm movement of the wearer and a greater amount of skin area is exposed for evaporative cooling of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 6135852
Abstract: A retainer capable of retaining the strap of a foundation garment upon the shoulder of the wearer so as to conceal the strap and maintain it concealed under the outer garment. The retainer is an elongated sleeve having a base, two side walls and a split top, together defining a passageway for the strap. The retainer is of a single piece construction molded from a material having slip resistance in contact with human skin and with clothing materials. After placing a foundation garment strap through the split top into the passageway, the retainer is placed on an appropriate part of the body, generally on the shoulder, concealed by the outer garment of the wearer. The retainer clings to the body and to the outer garment and maintains its position during wear of the garment.

  • Patent number: 6110007
Abstract: The front weight support system/garment/bra supports front weight substantially on a wearer's upper back, above the shoulder blades and below the cervical vertebrae of the neck. Weight is supported underneath by the front enclosure 3a which is extended to the wearer's shoulder-tops by opposite side front straps 3a and 11a , which secure to opposite side edges of the yoke 2a. The yoke restrains the front weight rearwardly and upwardly against the wearer's upper back. The downward end of the yoke is leveraged down by spine strap 7a, vertically adjustably secured to the rear of circumferential body band 9a by single adjuster 10a. The enclosure is secured to the front of the body band to keep the enclosure from moving forward off the weight. The yoke is positioned off the back of the wearer's neck by its shape, rigidity, and/or with an attached spine strap. Laterally rigid rod 88a in yoke can hold the front straps laterally apart and off the sides of the wearer's neck.

  • Patent number: 5975984
Abstract: A Durable Padded Interchangeable Brassiere Strap Shoulder Shield is intended to be placed beneath a brassiere strap between the brassiere strap and the wearer's shoulder. Velcro.RTM. hook fastener material disposed on the dorsal surface of the shield engages the brassiere strap and holds the shield in place while the padded material absorbs the shock from the brassiere strap. The shield is comprised of a resilient semi-rigid form. The form has a gently curved shape in the general contour of a human shoulder, curving from front to back. Padding is disposed upon a bottom side of the form. The padding is held in place by a covering disposed over the padding and the form. The covering directly covers the form and is tight enough to hold the padding against the form giving the shield the general contour established by the form. This design further includes front fasteners which function equally well irrespective of the side on which the brassiere is worn. The brassiere will provide adequate coverage for the patient soon after surgery, without the necessity of an expensive and time consuming special fitting. The second important aspect of this design is its continuous unbroken and smooth appearance when worn becuase the brassiere configuration and all outer edges have no apparent sewing or standard finishing of any kind on the outer surface of the brassiere.

  • Patent number: 5165113
Abstract: A padded strap for brassieres and similar garments that includes an integral molded pad portion. The strap, including the pad, is suitable for forming the load-bearing straps of the garment while presenting an attractive, smooth and seam-free outer appearance and also being free of seams along the wearer's skin. The padded strap of the invention also may be used as a separate pad for a conventional strap by attaching appropriate hooks or other hardware to the ends of the strap. A method for forming a strap according to the invention is also disclosed. The method includes laminating selected fabrics to a resilient core to form a laminated sandwich, molding the sandwich under pressure and temparature to compress a portion and leave an uncompressed portion to form a pad portion, cooling the molded sandwich in a curved position to induce a curved set, cutting the molded sandwich to size to form a strap, and securing the strap to a garment.

  • Patent number: 4953233
Abstract: A brassiere strap retainer includes a first strip of Velcro material bearing hooks on one side thereof, and a second strip of Velcro material having a hook-receiving pad on one side thereof. The pad of the second strip faces the hooks and one end of the pad strip is secured to the hook-bearing strip, as by glue, sewing or the like. In one embodiment, the pad-bearing strip is shorter in length than the hook-bearing strip and is positioned thereagainst so as to expose both opposite ends of the hook-bearing side of the hook strip. The pad-bearing strip forms an openable flap, between which flap and the adjacent hook-bearing strip surface a brassiere strap can be releasably trapped. The exposed hook portions of the strip are used to releasably anchor the strap to the interior of a woman's upper garment so as to conceal the strap. In another embodiment, one end of the pad-bearing strip is secured to one end of the hook-bearing strip so that the two strips extend away from each other.
