Abstract: A postural support apparatus comprising is provided including an biasing body comprising: a top member; a bottom member, spaced from the top member; and a left and right resilient members attached at each end of the top and bottom members. The left and right resilient members are configured to bias the top and bottom members into a predetermined position. The support apparatus also includes a load distributor connected to the biasing body configured to distribute a load force applied to the postural support apparatus.

Abstract: A physiotherapeutic device has a waist tensioning system and a spine support system that enable correction and/or maintaining postural stance for individuals suffering from poor posture and/or neurodegenerative disease. The device provides a posture support and retention system during episodes of postural instability to enable individuals to maintain posture and balance while performing functions. The device includes a garment with shoulder straps extending from the tensioning system to generate force vectors in a direction opposite of those generated by traditional shoulder straps. A rigid support member is disposed in the garment to run parallel with the spinal column. The shoulder straps and waist straps tie into an anchor located on a portion of the garment directly over the support member. The connected components work in concert to actively and passively adjust tension and apply pressure to straighten shoulders and improve the upper back support.

Abstract: A single piece garment for those having a distended abdomen, said garment extending upwards from the groin to beneath the breasts. The garment comprises an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer has several elastomeric fabrics having differing modulus of elasticity. A section beneath the abdomen is formed from an anisotropic elastomeric fabric with a low modulus of elasticity that supports a distended abdomen. Side panels extending upwards from the abdomen across the hips to the lumbar region are made from an isotropic elastomeric fabric having a moderate modulus of elasticity. These connect to a rear panel across the lumbar of an anisotropic elastomeric fabric having a moderate modulus of elasticity. The directionality of the anisotropic elastomeric fabrics is from the abdomen across the hips to the lumbar region.

Abstract: Described is a double-layer fabric garment. The garment is formed of a tubular fabric element that comprises a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes an initial edge portion. The second portion has specific areas of fabric with increased compression strength and an end portion. The initial edge of the first portion is connected with the end portion of the second portion, thereby creating a space between the first portion and the second portion and forming a seamless double-layer fabric garment. Thus, the first portion operates as an outer fabric layer and the second portion operates as an inner fabric layer, whereby the specific areas of fabric with increased compression strength of the second portion provide an increased shaping effect to a user while wearing the double-layer fabric garment. Therefore, the inner fabric layer provides a shaping effect while concealed by the overlaid outer layer.

Abstract: A device for relieving back strain for a user who is supporting a substantial weight which is off the user's vertical body axis at his or her front side. The device alleviates the aforementioned difficulties by utilizing the otherwise detrimental forces generated by the off-axis weight to press a rigid plate behind and adjacent to the spine of the device user against the user's spine. This rigid plate is preferably contoured to mirror the shape of the human spine. The device in one embodiment is used as a baby carrier. In another it is used with an abdominal support during pregnancy. In a third embodiment it provides support for the breasts of large breasted women.

Abstract: A panty corselet without buckle structures including a corset portion and a pants portion is disclosed. The pants portion includes a front rise and two connection belts connected to a lower edge of the corset portion and adjacent to the front rise. One end of each of the two connection belts is connected to a bottom edge of the corset portion on each hip side, and the other end to a bottom edge of the front rise at a crotch area, thereby forming two openings through which a wearer's thighs could pass. As the panty corselet of this present invention is not provided with buckles, it enables women to take off or put on the panty corselet conveniently. Moreover, the ends of the two connection belts are respectively stitched to the corset portion and the front rise, thus bring comfort to wearing and overcome the defects in current technology.

Abstract: The invention is a post-operative binder designed primarily for female patients made of relatively elastic and padded material. The present invention is designed to put pressure on the Pfannenstiel incisional area to prevent swelling through the use of a primary fastener and cross straps. Cross straps are fixedly attached to the midline section of the binder and removably attach to the sides of the binder at an angle to apply the appropriate pressure to the incisional area. The invention is designed with pockets to accommodate hold hot or cold packs in the incisional area, pain relief devices, sandbags or other hard or soft support structures to apply additional pressure, or drainage receptacles.

Abstract: A protective body suit is described which includes a body suit formed of a stretchable material which defines a pair of leg openings, a pair of arm openings, and a neck opening. The body suit is sized and shaped to conform snugly to the chest and hips of a user, and the material can be either a closely woven or knit material or an open mesh material. A pair of resilient side pads are secured to the body suit between the arm openings and the aligned leg openings to protect the sides of the user. A pair of resilient shoulder pads are secured to the body suit between the neck opening and respective ones of the arm openings to protect the shoulders of the user. At least one resilient back pad is secured to the body suit between the side pads to protect the back of the user. The body suit is effective to hold the pads securely in place against the body of the user during athletic activity.

Abstract: An exercise garment especially adapted for use by expectant mothers consists of an abdominal and breast support band that surrounds and supports the uterine area and includes breast support cups. The abdominal and breast support band is of double thickness elastic material and is affixed to a pair of elastic tights. It also includes shoulder straps that cross in the back and are fixed to the breast support cups on the side in the vicinity of the waistline. Also included is a sternum band.
