    Abstract: A skinning device for removing skin from an animal carcass or carcass parts when conveyed by a conveyor means includes a frame, a housing rotatably mounted on the frame using a rotation mechanism, a motor driven tooth roll mounted on the housing, a support structure mounted on the housing encasing at least a portion of the tooth roll, a cutting blade positioned adjacent to the support structure between the support structure and the tooth roll, and a sensing structure for sensing incoming animal carcass or carcass parts. The rotation mechanism is operably connected to the housing and adapted to execute, in response to a reaction from the sensing structure, a movement of the housing including rotational movement around a longitudinal axis of the tooth roll from a first angular position to a second angular position.

    Abstract: A skinning machine includes a frame, a linkage assembly mounted to the frame, and a skinning assembly mounted to the linkage assembly via lift arms. The linkage assembly raises and lowers the skinning assembly via the lift arms from an open to a closed position, wherein the linkage assembly is located on one side of the skinning assembly. A spring cartridge is operatively associated with the lift arms via an intermediate link to equally apply bias force from the spring cartridge to the independently rotatable lift arms. The linkage assembly includes a cam slot provided through a cam arm to slidably receive a pin therein. The cam slot is shaped to lock the pin when the linkage assembly is in the closed position. A cam block is mounted to the frame and includes a cam notch adapted to slidably secure the end of the pin in a locked open position.

    Abstract: A device is described for separating animal skin and for transferring it to further processing through a conveyance channel by using pressure difference. The device comprises a pulling device (3) for separating the skin (2) from the animal carcass (1) and for feeding it to the forward end of a conveyance channel (7), and means (8-10) to generate pressure difference between the ends of the conveyance channel and for separating the conveyed skin (2) form the portage air. According to the invention, the pulling device (3) that engages the other end of the skin (2) further comprises means (4, 5, 12) for feeding the skin (2) to the feed hopper (6) at the forward end of the conveyance channel (7) and for separating it from the pulling device (3) for suction conveyance. In this case, the feeding and separating means (4, 5, 12) are preferably set above the feed hopper (6) so that the skin (2) can be dropped to the feed hopper (6) for the suction conveyance.

    Abstract: A self-contained, independently operating, adjustable, portable animal skinning device for use with hunting game features telescoping metal rods. The animal skinner incorporates parallel upper and lower racks, each having a plurality of hollow, telescoping metal rods that facilitate the length adjustment thereof. Two opposingly disposed end supports sandwich the telescoping metal rods therebetween. A cable extends at least the combined length of the upper rack, the lower racks, and the vertical distance, therebetween. One end of the cable engages a clamp assembly, which removably secures an animal hide to the cable. The cable extends along the upper rack, engaging a roller on one of the horizontally-oriented hollow metal rods, and extends downward and along the lower rack. The other end of the cable operably engages a winch that in turn operably engages a portable AC power source, such as a 12 volt marine battery. A chain detachably engages the upper horizontal rod on the end support with the winch.

    Abstract: A skinning machines having a gripping roll, a skinning blade, a power unit for rotating the gripping roll, and a safety circuit responsive to manual contact of the machine operator with danger zone of the skinning machine. A clutch is provided to the skinning machine is operatively connected to the gripping roll and the power source for the gripping roll. A brake is connected to the safety circuit and the gripping roll. The clutch is normally operative, and the brake is normally inoperative, whereby the brake will stop the rotation of the gripping roll when the safety circuit is activated to overcome the operative condition of the clutch. The brake includes a coiled spring that tightens on a hub connected to the gripping roll when the safety circuit is actuated. The safety circuit includes a solenoid device that releases the spring to tighten on the hub when the safety circuit is actuated.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for removing the hide from animal carcasses. The structure includes a slotted pulling pin that is attached to a loosened skin flap of the animal's hide. The pulling pin is mounted to a platform assembly. The platform assembly may be tilted thereby setting the height of the pulling pin with respect to the floor of a processing plant. The tilting or rocking of the platform is accomplished with height adjustment mechanism that are extendable and retractable. To facilitate attachment of the hide to the pulling pin, said hide is first manually detached from the upper hind end of the animal carcass which is hanging head end down. After attachment of the hide to the pulling pin, the pin is rotated by a hydraulic motor thereby pulling the hide from the animal carcass. The motor is positioned on the platform so that it is angled away from the pulling pin and is a distance from the animal carcass at all times during the pulling process.
