With Simultaneous Scraping Or Defeathering Patents (Class 452/75)
  • Publication number: 20090042496
Abstract: A method and apparatus (10) for scalding and plucking slaughtered poultry, by way of example chickens, hens, turkeys, ducks or geese, where the poultry is transported via a sluice device through a scalding tunnel (10) are slaughtering, preferably suspended at the feet, where the poultry in the scalding runnel is conveyed successively between rows of nozzles (36) that are adapted to apply scalding agent to the poultry, where a plurality of different scalding agents are applied, where in a first scalding zone hot water is used as scalding agent, where in succeeding scalding zones scalding agents with mutually differing temperatures are applied, where in the said succeeding scalding zones warm humid air is used as scalding agent which is at least blown onto specific sub areas of the poultry. In a simple way optimal plucking may occur subsequently without the poultry subjected to unnecessary heat action, and so that a considerable reduction of the required energy consumption is simultaneously attained.

  • Patent number: 6783451
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for removing faecal matter from slaughtered poultry suspended by the legs, wherein the poultry, after having been cut for bleeding, is scalded to soften the feathers of the poultry, and after having been scalded is plucked and eviscerated to provide fresh defeathered slaughtered poultry, wherein also the removal of faecal matter takes place by prior to evisceration removing not yet unloaded faecal matter from the poultry by applying a pressure load to the abdominal cavity of the poultry, and simultaneously or subsequently spraying away the faecal matter squeezed out of the poultry with water and/or air.

  • Publication number: 20020015755
Abstract: A process for making bait from poultry waste unfit for human consumption, for aquatic food sources such as fish, crab, conch, eel, shrimp, lobster, crayfish, etc. The poultry waste is picked up from chicken farms and poultry processing plants in refrigerated or frozen containers and are forwarded to a processing plant. The poultry waste is processed to eliminate any remaining feathers and internal organs. The breast portions of the poultry waste are removed and separated and are processed according to various specific client requirements in the fishing and crabbing industries. This processing involves further separation and packaging of the poultry waste, which is then sterilized by either radiation (first embodiment process) or ultra high hydrostatic treatment (second embodiment process). The poultry waste is then sent to a distribution center to be sold to various fishing and crabbing industry users.

  • Patent number: 5916222
Abstract: A hand-held depilating device capable of masking the pain of plucking the hairs. A plucking head has a plurality of pinching elements which arrange along a horizontal axis in a closely adjacent relation and are driven to close and open gaps between the pinching elements for pinching the hairs between the adjacent elements and release the hairs therefrom. A cycler or turning mechanism is included to cyclically move the plucking head in a direction crossing with the horizontal axis so as to define, in combination with the movement of closing and opening the pinching elements, repeated depilating cycles of introducing the hairs between the adjacent pinching elements, pinching the hairs therebetween, plucking the hairs from the skin, and releasing the hairs from between the pinching elements. Mounted to the top of the housing adjacent to the plucking head is a simulator which applies stimuli to the skin independently of the plucking head.

  • Patent number: 5196021
Abstract: A depilatory device for removing body hair, includes a pair of jaws adapted to sequentially traverse an opening in the housing when the hair-plucker body is driven by an electrical motor. The jaws of each pair are normally spaced apart in an open condition to receive a hair between them, but are movable towards each other to a closed condition to clamp the hair received between them. Camming elements carried by the housing move the pairs of jaws to their closed and open conditions as they sequentially traverse the housing opening.

  • Patent number: 5196020
Abstract: A comb for connection to the skin meshing unit adjacent the cutter blades to contact the blades to remove the skin from the blades. The comb includes a plurality of slots which accommodates a portion of the cutter blades as the blades rotate through the skin sample passed under the blades. Each longitudinal end of the slot includes angled side wall and is bevelled relative to the bottom wall of the comb to form a V-shaped groove which engages the cutting edge of the blades in close contact to remove the skin from the cutter.
