Abstract: A support for mounting an air conditioner for operative disposition in a window, while being free of any supports external to the window and of any metallic contact with the window, includes elongated top and bottom members of lightweight polymeric molded construction, sized and shaped to extend along an interior window sill of the window, with opposite ends thereof extending beyond vertical side jambs of the window. First and second transverse members of polymeric molded construction extend between the top and bottom members to define a receptacle sized and shaped to slidably receive the air conditioner therein and to interferingly engage an elongated flange extending along an upper surface of the air conditioner. The top and bottom members include molded hand-holds and demarcations/score lines to facilitate trimming to desired widths.

Abstract: A compressor noise suppressing structure including a dehumidifier. The compressor noise suppressing structure includes an installation member fixed to a base frame to support and accommodate a component installed within a housing, and a noise-proof member attached to the installation member and extending towards a first end of the base so as to cover at least one side of the compressor. According to the configuration of the compressor noise suppressing structure, noise generated when the compressor is operated is simultaneously blocked by the nose-proof member and the housing, and the installation member and the noise-proof member are configured as a single component.

The rail has an elongated face to engage a flange on the upper front edge of the air conditioner and maintain the air conditioner free of support by a window sash of the window frame assembly.

Abstract: A quick release mounting apparatus and method for mounting a room air conditioner in a window opening that utilizes a quick release mounting which supports the weight of the outdoor portion of the air conditioner in a cantilevered condition and, in the event of an emergency, upon releasing a latch mechanism allows the air conditioner to topple rearwardly from the window opening exterior of the room to provide an escape route through the open window. A safety harness may also be provided that suspends the air conditioner unit a distance above the ground on the exterior of the room after it has been released to prevent it from falling to the ground.

Abstract: Leveling arms for a low profile room air conditioner which are pivotally mounted to a side of an air conditioner housing at an inner end and have an arcuate slotted opening adjacent an outer end. A threaded fastener or clamping bolt is threaded into the air conditioner housing and extends through the arcuate opening. The threaded fastener is loosened to allow the position of the associated arm to be adjusted. The arms have an inner surface providing a series of radial teeth which mesh with like teeth on the outer surface of the housing when the threaded fastener is tightened, thereby retaining the arms in the desired position.

Abstract: A room air conditioner for mounting in a window opening having a vertically sliding lower sash. The enclosure for the unit has front and rear portions separated by the vertical plane of the window opening, the compressor and condenser heat exchanger being mounted in the rear portion, and the evaporator heat exchanger being mounted in the front portion. A motor that is connected to an axial flow fan at one end and a coaxial centrifugal blower wheel at the other end is also located in the rear portion. The axial flow fan is operatively associated with the condenser heat exchanger and the centrifugal blower wheel is operatively associated with the evaporator heat exchanger. The forward enclosure portion and the evaporator heat exchanger extend above the bottom of the bottom rail of the lower sash, and the rear housing portion and the condenser heat exchanger extend above the bottom rail of the lower sash and substantially below the level of the window sill.

Abstract: A saddle type room air conditioning unit is disclosed wherein evaporator and condenser housings are supported in a fixed relationship by a connecting portion affording support for the housings and controlled air flow communication between the housings. Sealing devices are releasably latched to the connecting portion and cooperate therewith to completely seal the unit vertically relative to a window sill and sash and horizontally between vertical sides of a window frame. A latching device is also disclosed for adjustably releasably latching upper and lower window sashes relative to one another, as required to prevent unauthorized removal of the unit from a window opening.
