  • Patent number: 10350989
Abstract: A flap device for a heat exchanger of a vehicle has a support structure in which is formed a passage. A shutter is fitted to the passage, pivotable about an operationally horizontal axis (X-X) nearer to a first end of the shutter, between a rest position in which it closes the passage and a operating position in which it opens the passage, thereby allowing a flow of air to pass in a predetermined direction through the passage. In use, the shutter pivots from the rest position towards the operating position under the effect of a flow of air which strikes it in this direction, and returns by gravity towards the rest position when the air flow ceases. A stop projection formed on the first end of the shutter strikes an abutment surface on the structure when the shutter reaches the rest position.

Abstract: A system for optimizing one or more environmental parameters of an enclosed space comprising first and second relatively enclosed regions, such as a living space and a roof space within a building, is disclosed. The system comprises an internal sensor, in the first region, and an external sensor, external to the enclosed space, for measuring respective environmental parameters. The system also comprises a controller and a diverter valve. The controller is configured to specify the first region's ideal internal environmental parameter, and compare this specified parameter with the measured first region's internal parameter and the measured external parameter to determine whether the diverter valve directs air from the first or second enclosed region to exhaust through the ventilator.

  • Patent number: 8066560
Abstract: External airflow rates from floor vents that provide chilled air to information handling systems are measured with a disposable tool to ensure compatibility of the information handling systems' external air cooling constraints with the cooling capacity of the floor vents. For instance, an information handling system manufacturer sends a disposable tool formed from a cardboard box to a user location. The tool has an open bottom to fit over a floor vent and a slat cut in a side surface to move in response to airflow that enters at the bottom. Pre-calibrated markings associated with expected airflow rates for information handling system cooling floor vents measure airflow rates by the degree of slat movement so that the user location and manufacturer may confer to confirm the compatibility of the user location cooling capacity with selected information handling systems.

  • Patent number: 7582009
Abstract: An improved air volume regulator used in HVAC operating at a static pressure below 25 pa. (0.1?w.g.) having a pair of opposing gates facing into the airflow and a V shaped baffle positioned to form two constricting passageways. Air flowing through the passageway generates a light vacuum at its throat and combined with the static pressure differential across the gates urges them towards the baffle and constricts the airflow. A counterbalance spring cooperating with a concave cam and cam follower applies a resisting bias on gates such that the airflow in the regulator remains constant under varying inlet conditions. A variable spring rate mechanism permits the adjustment of the airflow rate over the full operating range using a single counterbalance spring. A cable driven “limited torque” flywheel controls the air volume regulator's propensity to pulsate under unstable inlet airflow conditions.
