Sliding Or Axially Moveable Patents (Class 454/274)
  • Patent number: 11578890
Abstract: A mechanism for opening and closing a damper valve of a diffuser mechanism is provided. Embodiments of the invention include a damper construction that selectively alters the amount of air flow through a diffuser grille using a three-plate damper valve. The three-plate damper valve includes a manual plate, a fixed plate, and a motorized plate. The manual plate is manually rotatable around a central axis, while the motorized plate is mechanically rotatable about the same axis. The motorized plate is mechanically and/or remotely controlled using a stepper motor coupled to the motorized plate. Further, the diffuser mechanism includes a sensor for determining the location of the motorized plate with respect to a starting position. As such, multiple configurations of the manual plate and the motorized plate may be used to alter the air flow through the resulting channels of the damper mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7780509
Abstract: A foundation vent comprising a front frame and resiliently-flexible clips with tabs at their ends. The foundation vent can be quickly installed within a foundation opening by flexing the clips, placing them into the opening, and pushing the front frame until it seats against the exterior of a foundation wall. At this point, the tabs of the clips will have protruded past the interior face of the foundation wall allowing the clips to return to their unflexed state and causing the tabs to secure against the interior face of the foundation wall.

  • Patent number: 7540169
Abstract: A cold air supply and control device for a refrigerator is provided. The cold air supply and control device includes a cylindrical, duct main body having an inlet that allows cold air generated in a heat exchange chamber to be introduced thereinto and an outlet that supplies the cold air introduced through the inlet to a refrigerating chamber. The duct main body is pivotably installed to at least one of both side surfaces of the refrigerating chamber. An opening and closing piece is fixed to the side surface of the refrigerating chamber and selectively opens and closes the outlet according to a rotation of the duct main body. An interlocking plate formed below the outlet of the duct main body rotates the duct main body by a load of a shelf so as to open the outlet. In addition, a torsion spring is installed between a surface of the refrigerating chamber and a front or rear surface of the duct main body, and elastically supports the duct main body in a direction in which the outlet is closed.

  • Patent number: 7491120
Abstract: A trickle vent such as might be used in association with commercial windows is formed from PVC tubing in two convoluted paths. One or more expansion chambers are provided at turns or directional changes within the tubing which reduce or eliminate noise transmission through the vent. Where a plurality of expansion chambers are used, each chamber may be of different length to dampen a different portion of the acoustic spectrum. In a preferred embodiment, the expansion chambers are filled with an acoustic-type foam, and the ends are not completely sealed. The tubing preferably bridges two extrusions that form a supporting housing for the vent, and by using two separate extrusions bridged by the tubing, both thermal and acoustic isolation are maintained.

  • Patent number: 7232369
Abstract: An under-floor, perimeter-based heating ventilation and air conditioning pressurized air delivery system for use in a space includes a ventilation module, to be located in the floor, a multi-deflection linear bar grille covering the ventilation module, for diffusing the air entering the space, and a pair of apertured plates located below the grille, one plate moves relative to the other to either block more of the resultant apertures, so less air will flow, or to align the apertures, so more air will flow, all at nearly constant velocity and resultant plumage; nuances in aperture size or location allow one segment of the module to engage air flow on a lead-lag basis with respect to the other segments; air flow from the lead apertures induces air flow through a proximate under-floor heating module, to both increase its heat output and temper the ventilation air.

The system includes a first input device operable to generate a first input signal indicative of a desired airflow to the first zone and a second input device operable to generate a second input signal indicative of a desired airflow to the second zone. First and second flow regulators are configured to regulate airflow to the first and second zones, respectively, such that the first and second regulators selectively provide the airflow to each of the first and second zones based on the first and second input signals. A single actuator is associated with the first and second flow regulators. The actuator is operable to simultaneously actuate the first and second flow regulators based on an input from the first and second input devices to allow the desired airflows to the first and the second zones.

  • Patent number: 6302785
Abstract: An improved foundation vent with increased net free area is provided. The foundation vent has a frame that surrounds and defines an opening and a grill supported by the frame and spanning the opening. The grill has an inside face disposed on the inside of a crawlspace when the vent is mounted in a foundation wall and an outside face disposed on the outside of the crawlspace. A mesh screen is mounted to the frame and spans the opening adjacent the inside face of the grill. The grill is provided with projecting standoffs that support the screen at a predetermined distance from the inside face of the grill to form a plenum between the screen and the grill. A raised peripheral rim is provided on the frame and supports the peripheral portion of the screen. The spacing of the screen from the inside face of the grill and the plenum formed thereby unblocks the portions of the screen that otherwise would be blocked by the members of the grill and thus increases the net free area of the foundation vent.
