  • Patent number: 5755069
Abstract: A louver assembly and a method for installing the louver assembly into an opening in a wall of a structure are provided wherein the louver includes a frame which and a separate louver section which may be mounted within the frame after the frame has been mounted in the opening in the wall. The frame defines a central channel which extends from an interior opening to an exterior opening. The frame includes a frame flange extending from an exterior edge of the central channel so that, when the frame is in a desired position within the hole in the wall, the frame flange extends around the entire perimeter of the hole to seal the perimeter of the hole. The louver section is selectively mountable within the central channel so that it is prevented from passing through the exterior opening. When the louver section is in a desired position within the central channel, the frame is sealed so that air is prevented from passing between the frame and an outer surface of the louver section.

  • Patent number: 5729935
Abstract: A gable vent assembly comprising a mounting ring and a cover member. The mounting ring includes a plurality of distinct lengths, one of which is formed in two parts to enable easy manipulation of portions thereof when the mounting ring is positioned over an opening in a wall having siding thereon. The cover member includes a plurality of shoulder portions which engage with securing grooves in the mounting ring such that the gable vent member may be secured to the mounting ring without the need for fastening elements such as threaded screws, staples or the like. The cover member and mounting ring are also adjustably positionable relative to each other to accommodate different thicknesses of siding.

  • Patent number: 5727998
Abstract: A vent cover assembly for a side vent of a recreational vehicle which includes a frame to be mounted at the vent opening and a vent cover removably retained within the frame. The frame has a planar main wall which forms a rectangular-shaped central opening and rectangularly-shaped and vertically spaced apart air inlets at each lateral side of the central opening. The vent cover is removably retained within the central opening of the frame such that a front surface of the vent cover is co-planar with a front surface of the frame. The vent cover has a planar main wall which forms a plurality of rectangularly-shaped and vertically spaced apart air inlets. The air inlets of the frame effectively form extensions of the air inlets of the vent cover.

  • Patent number: 5601485
Abstract: A light eliminator or blackout panel for use with air circulating fans and the like includes a series of plates each having a plurality of spaced fins protruding from one face thereof to form a plurality of channels opposite ends of which face the lateral side edges of the associated plate. The plates are mounted in spaced, confronting relation with each other to form a blackout panel in which the open sides of the channels of one plate are closed by the next adjacent plate in the series.

  • Patent number: 5542224
Abstract: A louver has vertical blades arranged in a frame alternately in a staggered relation from front to back in a front and a rear row. The blades in at least the front row have a web oriented substantially perpendicularly to the plane of the frame and substantially parallel to the jambs, a pair of front flanges extending in opposite directions generally laterally from a front edge of the web, and a pair of rear flanges extending in opposite directions generally laterally from a rear edge of the web. The webs subdivide the air flow volume within the frame into flow channels, each of which is partially blocked laterally by the front flanges and the rear flanges of the blades of the front row. The blades of the rear row have flanges that block the portions of the channels between the extremities of the flanges of the blades of the front row.

  • Patent number: 5421775
Abstract: A compartment ventilating apparatus prevents its indoor louver (22) from being subjected to the formation of dew, and, therefore can prevent the dew built up in its ventilation area in the form of ice, which enables the apparatus to keep a sufficient ventilation area in operation. In the apparatus, an opening portion (3 ) passes through a side wall (2) of a compartment (1). Mounted in the opening portion, (3) are an inner ventilation unit (4) and an outer ventilation unit (5) which is spaced apart from the inner ventilation unit (4).

  • Patent number: 5349799
Abstract: A plastic gable vent for placement on the wall of a building to provide a louver wherein siding abuts the gable vent comprising a plastic body having a front wall and a peripheral wall circumscribing the front wall. A plurality of integral longitudinally spaced louvers are provided on the front wall. Each louvers includes an inwardly extending apex with side walls, one of which has a slot therein. The plastic body further includes an inner peripheral wall that circumscribes the louvers. A flat sheet is attached on the plastic body and overlies the inwardly extending apices. The screen is opaque and formed with vertically spaced slots when mounted on the inner peripheral wall, opaque portions engage the inner apices of the louvers, and the slots are positioned such that they are spaced transversely from the walls that have the openings therein. A screen overlies the flat sheet.

  • Patent number: 5120273
Abstract: A ventilation pane assembly for making a panel door or window, comprising two hollowed face panels at two opposite sides, an intermediate frame at the middle, a fixed perforated panel fixedly set between said intermediate frame and one of said two hollowed face panels, and at least one movable perforated panel movable set between said intermediate frame and the other hollowed face panel. Moving the movable perforated panel in one direction causes the vent holes thereon to be aligned with the vent holes on the fixed perforated panel for ventilation; moving the movable perforated panel in the other direction causes the vent holes thereon to be deviated from the vent holes on the fixed perforated panel so that air current is stopped from passing through the ventilation pane assembly.

  • Patent number: 5080005
Abstract: A passive building vent disposed in an outside vertical building wall, communicates between the outside atmospheric air and the confined air within the building, via a housing forming an air mixing chamber with a passageway disposed therethrough. A movable membrane is mounted within the housing at one end of the passageway, the other end of the passageway communicates with the confined air and is disposed outside of the vertical building wall. The membrane has a closed position, substantially blocking the passageway and an open position, permitting the free flow of air therethrough. The air passage permits the flow of outside air into the air mixing chamber. A venting device communicates with the air mixing chamber permitting the flow of air to exit from the air mixing chamber. A deflector is mounted on the housing proximate the venting device and communicates with the air mixing chamber.
