Sweeping Type Patents (Class 454/285)
  • Patent number: 5299978
Abstract: A drive motor is located with its axis symmetrically between the parallel shafts on which a pair of louvers are rotatable mounted. A crank pin driven by the motor is connected to the two louver blades by drive arms attached to the upstream ends of the louver blades. A complete rotation of the motor shaft results in the louvers being relatively moved to sweep the air from an upward to a downward direction, while, at times, pinching the air to increase the throw thereof.

  • Patent number: 5259815
Abstract: A air outlet for a passenger compartment of a vehicle has a duct forming a jet of air, a pair of lateral sidewalls, bounded by the top and bottom walls diverging from each other from their upstream ends to their downstream ends at a rate sufficient to preclude a stable wall effect and for causing aperiodic oscillation of the jet into the passenger compartment of said vehicle. Various means are disclosed to further destabilize the wall effect.

  • Patent number: 5251814
Abstract: A louver is provided at an air outlet of an indoor unit. The louver changes the direction of air into the room and swings in a horizontal direction of the room. On the other hand, a temperature sensor unit is provided on the indoor unit. The temperature sensor unit senses temperatures at a plurality of locations in the room. A difference between sensed temperatures of the temperature sensor unit is detected, and the center of swing of the louver is set at a position determined on the basis of the detection result. Further, the angle of swing of the louver is changed in accordance with the detection result.

  • Patent number: 5242325
Abstract: An air conditioner has a body casing provided with an air inlet port and an air blow-off port, a vertical wind shifting element disposed in the body casing for vertically shifting a blow-off direction of wind through the blow-off port, a horizontal wind shifting element disposed in the body casing for horizontally shifting a blow-off direction of wind through a blow-off port and a control apparatus for controlling the vertical and horizontal wind shifting elements. The control apparatus comprises a first driving circuit for driving the vertical wind shifting element, a second driving circuit for driving the horizontal wind shifting element, and a control unit for controlling operations of the first and second driving circuits. A switching circuit for switching operations of the vertical and horizontal wind shifting elements may be further provided.

  • Patent number: 5176568
Abstract: There are provided a plurality of groups 14 and 34 which are arranged in an outlet of a main body, and which comprise blowing direction deflecting plates 1, 2 and 3, and 21, 22 and 23; rotational angle setting means 41a and 41b which are provided for the respective groups 14 and 34, and which set rotation angles of the groups 14 and 34; rotational angle limit detection means 42a and 42b for comparing preset limiting rotation angles of the groups 14 and 34 to the set rotation angles; and rotational direction reversing means 43 for reversing the rotational directions of the groups 14 and 34 when at least one of the groups 14 and 34 has reached the limiting rotation angle. Blowing direction of conditioned air can be adjusted while constantly keeping an arbitrary phase difference in blowing direction between the groups.

  • Patent number: 5176571
Abstract: Wind deflecting plates of an air conditioning grille include flexible plates are made of a thermoplastic material, so that they may bend to smoothly change the direction of wind when the deflecting plates are swung, and front and rear supports for the flexible plates. The material for the front and rear supports is of the same type as the material for the flexible plate and has a melting point close to that of the flexible plate but a hardness and stiffness different from the material of the flexible plate. The supports support the associated flexible plate at the windward and leeward ends thereof, respectively, and urge the flexible plate when bent to return to the flat state. At the end surface facing a blower rotor, the rear support has an arc portion having a shape corresponding to the outer surface of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5072657
Abstract: Blowing louver for air conditioners provides plural swinging fins for shifting the direction of the wind conditioned. Each fin has first and second swinging axes which are pivotably supported by first and second link members. The first link member is manually operated so as to swing fins about respective second axes and the second link member is driven reciprocally by a driving mechanism so as to swing fins about respective first axes automatically.
