Abstract: A modular floor terminal basket with a damper is mounted in the floor of an occupied space for delivering air from an under floor air plenum to the occupied space above. The modular floor terminal basket with a damper includes a generally cylindrical basket with air inlet openings on the basket side and an air outlet at the top of the basket. A damper is positioned in the basket for movement from a lower opened position to an upper closed position. The position of the damper is controlled by an actuator which in turn is controlled by a thermostat/controller in the occupied space above the floor. The damper is slideably mounted on a damper guide extending from the bottom of the basket toward the air outlet at the top of the basket. The actuator rotates a threaded shaft that engages a threaded collar attached to the damper so that the damper slides up and down along the damper guide.

Abstract: The invention relates to ventilation grilles (22, 24), ventilation grille frames (10) and ventilation grille slats (12, 14), and to methods of producing ventilation grilles (22, 24). According to the invention, the ventilation grille frame (10) comprises horizontal slat holders (16) and vertical slat holders (18) which lie at least substantially in one plane. As a result, one and the same ventilation grille frame (10) can be selectively fitted with horizontal or vertical ventilation grille slats (12, 14), thus achieving a flexible configuration.

Abstract: The air diffuser which is designed to be attached to an air supply duct comprises a cannister having a closed and an air inlet pipe proximate its closed end for attachment to the air supply duct. The cannister also includes attachment means proximate its open end so that the cannister can be secured to a supporting frame. A hollow sleeve having an open bottom end is slidingly insertable into the open end of the cannister, and at its top end is provided with a first array of air discharge ports. Co-operating means are located on an interior sidewall of the cannister and an exterior sidewall of the sleeve which permits the sleeve and the cannister to be telescoped together in a non-rotational relationship and which also enables the sleeve to be detachably connected to the cannister at selected telescopic positions.

Abstract: An improved air diffuser is provided, including a housing having a bottom and an upwardly extending side wall with air slots to receive air. The housing supports a grille, and a flow regulator fits within the housing. The diffuser is configured to be secured to a floor by a mounting assembly, including a trim ring and a plurality of retaining mechanisms. The trim ring defines a flange and brackets for receiving the retaining mechanisms. Each retaining mechanism defines an L-shaped mount having horizontal and vertical legs. A cantilevered latch extends from a back of the vertical leg so that, when the vertical leg is inserted into one of the brackets, the latch secures the retaining mechanism to the bracket. The horizontal leg and the flange of the trim ring define a space therebetween for engaging a floor and thereby securing the housing to the floor.

Abstract: An under-floor, perimeter-based heating ventilation and air conditioning pressurized air delivery system for use in a space includes a ventilation module, to be located in the floor, a multi-deflection linear bar grille covering the ventilation module, for diffusing the air entering the space, and a pair of apertured plates located below the grille, one plate moves relative to the other to either block more of the resultant apertures, so less air will flow, or to align the apertures, so more air will flow, all at nearly constant velocity and resultant plumage; nuances in aperture size or location allow one segment of the module to engage air flow on a lead-lag basis with respect to the other segments; air flow from the lead apertures induces air flow through a proximate under-floor heating module, to both increase its heat output and temper the ventilation air.
