In the meantime, in order to suppress noise, rectifying plates for reducing an inflowing angle of air flowing into the fin tips of a heat exchanger are interposed between an axial fan and the heat exchanger for taking in the air from the axial fan for heat exchanging.

    Abstract: An oscillating drive mechanism for an air discharge nozzle, which is mounted for pivotal movement about an axis. The discharge nozzle includes end plates, each having a pivot pin extending along the pivot axis. One end plate has an elongated slot therein spaced from the pivot pin. The pivot pins are supported at opposite ends by support structure, which allows pivotal movement of the nozzle about the axis. The support structure adjacent one end includes an opening therethrough spaced from the axis and configured such that the elongated slot and one end plate will sweep across the opening as the air discharge nozzle pivots through a predetermined desired arcuate sweep. A drive motor having a drive axis is attached on the opposite side of the support structure, opposite the through opening. A drive mechanism is disposed in the opening.

    Abstract: An air conditioner includes an air inlet, an air outlet, a heat exchanger disposed between the air inlet and air outlet, and an air direction control mechanism at the air outlet for regulating a direction of air discharge. The regulating mechanism includes a support member having slots, and a plurality of vanes each having a projection configured correspondingly to the slots so that once the projections have been inserted through the respective slots and then rotated, the vanes are secured to the support member. Each projection includes a hinge axle about which the vane rotates, and a pair of compression protruders projecting from opposite sides of the hinge axle. The protruders bear elastically against one surface of the support member to pull a flange portion of the vane into engagement with another surface of the support member. One of the protruders of each vane carries a fixation axle which snaps into a respective open-sided hole of a connecting member.

This new design is characterized in that the angle of inclination of each guide vane progressively changes toward the end of the row. The air flow is controlled accurately in both the left and right directions so that the air flow reaches the desired location.

The shutter carries two vertical racks which are selectively engageable by a horizontally shiftable, motor-driven pinion. The pinion, which is rotated in only one direction, displaces the shutter into an outlet closing position when the pinion engages one of the racks, and displaces the shutter in an opposite direction when the pinion engages the other rack. Horizontal shifting of the pinion can be performed by tripping jaws which are formed on the racks and are engageable with the pinion, or by a separate device such as a fluid-actuated cylinder.

    Abstract: An air vent includes a louver blade mounted in a housing for rotation about an axis. A motor output shaft is connected to a driving link to rotate the driving link about the axis. A driven link in the form of a crank arm extends from the driving link to the louver blade. A spring in the form of a torsional coil spring interconnects the driving link and the driven link for transmitting rotation therebetween to adjust the louver blade. When an undesired external force is applied to the louver blade, the spring can yield elastically to prevent relative movement between the driving link and driven link in order to protect the motor.
