Patent number: 8844513Abstract: A device, system and method for heating fluid (air) in a flue to create a draw prior to combusting a fuel in a combustion device. The device, system and method includes a housing that may be integrated about the flue. The housing may include a heat exchanger that itself may include a heating source that may be in thermal communication with the flue and a temperature differentiation driver. The heat exchanger may operate to transfer heat energy from the heating source to a fluid constrained to a path created by the flue. The result is a pressure differential created within the flue to help draw the fluid out of the combustion device. The heat exchanger may be configured such that it may cause heat transfer to the heavier, more dense fluid contained within the ventilation system prior to combusting fuel in a combustion device, thereby causing the fluid to be relatively less dense thus creating a draw.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2008Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Inventor: John Stock LaMunyon, III

Patent number: 7981200Abstract: A flare stack that preferably comprises a burner assembly, an exhaust stack, an housing, and a fuel line. The burner assembly burns a fuel to generate thermal energy and combustion byproducts. The exhaust stack is cooperatively associated with the burner assembly to direct the thermal energy and combustion byproducts away from the burner assembly. The housing at least partially defines a fluid-receiving chamber in thermal communication with the exhaust stack. The fluid-receiving chamber has a heat-transfer fluid disposed therein. The fuel line is in fluid communication with the burner assembly to deliver fuel to the burner assembly. At least a portion of the fuel line is in thermal communication with at least one of the exhaust stack, housing, or heat-transfer fluid to permit fuel in the fuel line to absorb thermal energy before reaching the burner assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2010Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Inventors: E. Todd Wiggins, D. Jeffrey Hill

Patent number: 7655883Abstract: A heated vent cap assembly is provided which can be coupled to a pipe originating from a plumbing system within a building. A heating element is wound around an inner cylinder which is wrapped in a conductive foil and enveloped by a larger diameter outer cylinder which is lined with a reflective foil defining a void there between. The cylinders are secured at an upper end by an end cap and at a lower end by a lower end cap and a tether is tautly secured within the inner cylinder by a bridge in an opening of the end cap and a lower disk engaged with the lower end of the inner cylinder to support ice blocks formed therein. The heating cable generates heat, which is reflected by the reflective foil and absorbed by the conductive foil to prevent ice from forming on the inner surface of the inner cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2005Date of Patent: February 2, 2010Assignee: Heat-Line CorporationInventor: Lorne R. Patent number: 6769461Abstract: An apparatus is developed for discharging a waste gas in a semiconductor (or TFT-LCD) manufacturing process. The present invention has its purpose to constantly set the amount of purge of nitrogen for inducing the waste gas to discharge while increasing a temperature of the waste gas so that dust of the waste gas is not accumulated on the inner wall of a pipe, and prevent an accident such as a burn from occurring in workers. The apparatus includes an inlet transfer 100 having an inlet port 102 and a support rib 104, a discharge transfer 140 having a support jaw 144 fixed to a support rib and forming a blow-off gap 110 along with the inlet transfer, a transfer cap 160 coupled to the top of the inlet transfer, while surrounding the discharge transfer, a heating casing 180 forming a heating room 182 and having a nitrogen inlet port 184, an electric heat wire 200 disposed within the heating room, and a temperature sensor 220 for controlling a temperature of the electric heat wire.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2003Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Inventor: Sun-Young Lee
