  • Patent number: 8732315
Abstract: A device previously configured as a registrar and that has established an independent ad-hoc network is automatically discovered by another device also previously configured as a registrar. To form an ad-hoc wireless network between these two devices, each device periodically enters a scanning mode to scan for and intercept beacons transmitted by the other device. Upon such interception, one of the devices becomes an enrollee in accordance with a predefined condition and in response to a user selected option. Subsequently, the enrollee modifies its beacons to include an attribute, such as the MAC address, associated with the other device. After intercepting the modified beacon, the remaining registrar prompts it user to decide whether to allow the enrollee to join the registrar's network. If the user responds affirmatively, a handshake is performed between the two devices and a subsequent attempt is made by the enrollee to join the registrar's network.

  • Patent number: 7349679
Abstract: A power amplifier develops a modulated high power signal by summing the outputs of multiple voltage controlled oscillators. A phase control circuit synchronizes the phase relationship of multiple voltage controlled oscillators. The voltage control oscillators provide amplitude modulation of an output signal of the voltage controlled oscillator by adjusting transconductance of amplification devices of the voltage controlled oscillator. Another embodiment of the power amplifier provides buffer circuits at the outputs of the voltage controlled oscillators. The gain or delay of the buffer circuits is varied to provide amplitude modulation of the power amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20020197969
Abstract: When a mobile station communicates with a base station by way of one or a plurality of other mobile stations, the mobile station acting as a relay station determines whether the data demodulated after being received is reception data for the mobile station or transfer data to be transmitted to the other mobile station or the base station, decides a modulation mode suitable for transmitting sum data of the transfer data and transmission data if the transmission data is generated in the mobile station, and transmits the sum data while modulating the sum data according to the modulation mode decided. The base station demodulates a reception signal relayed by the mobile stations according to the modulation mode of the mobile station having directly communicated with the base station, and identifies each user data multiplexed.

  • Patent number: 5375255
Abstract: A radio receiver for an RF signal which is phase or frequency modulated by an information signal. The receiver has an analog receiving section which provides non-linear dynamic compression. The resulting analog signal is sampled and the samples are digitized by an A/D converter. The non-linear dynamic compression reduces the necessary number of quantizing steps in the A/D converter, which is less expensive, but thereby introduces non-linear distortion. To compensate such distortion, in the digital processing section of the receiver an expansion section is provided which processes the digital signal samples in accordance with the inverse of the non-linear dynamic compression characteristic. The resulting expanded digital sample values equalize the analog non-linear dynamic compression. The information signal is recovered from the expanded digital signals.

  • Patent number: 4442549
Abstract: A circuit and method for producing a signal the magnitude of which varies with the logarithm of an input signal supplied to a plurality of cascaded differential amplifier stages each having substantially equal gain. As particular ones of the stages go into limiting the DC rectified voltage produced at the differential common node of each of the stages is detected to produce a plurality of currents. • Patent number: 4429416
Abstract: A plurality of differential amplifier stages in cascaded in a directly coupled configuration to provide substantial signal gain. The first few stages are cascode coupled to a plural input differential signal combiner which has a single differential output that feeds a full wave differential peak detector. The peak detector therefore has an output that rises as a log function of the signal input. This signal-related voltage is then fed to a differential dc amplifier which in turn drives a meter that indicates the log of the input signal strength. The amplifier cascade is stabilized by a dc feedback loop.

  • Patent number: 4397040
Abstract: In a UHF receiver in which volume control is carried out as a function of received field strength, distortion due to multipath reception is prevented by use of a band-pass filter connected to the output terminal of the IF section which furnishes a signal indicative of received field strength. The low frequency noise signals appearing at this terminal in the presence of multipath reception are passed by the band-pass filter and subsequently rectified to create a DC control signal which closes a switch. This in turn increases the time constant of the connecting circuit between the field strength output terminal and the control input of the volume control circuit. The increase in time constant suppresses the above-mentioned low frequency oscillations which occur only during multipath reception, so that the output of the volume control circuit is not affected by such multipath reception.
