Abstract: The described embodiments allow for the association of an interaction with a target in a display. One embodiment includes detecting an interaction with an area associated with a graphical element in a display, detecting a later interaction displaced from the area, and associating the later interaction with a target in the display based at least on the time between the interaction with the area and the later interaction. User interactions with one or more displayed hit targets are based on corresponding time-varying hit zones. In response to unlimited user interaction with a hit target, subsequent user selections are validated based on a time-varying hit zone that is typically extended with respect to the previously selected hit target. The extended selection zone can overlap one or more other hit targets to favor re-selection of the individually selected hit target. The extended selection zone generally decreases as a function of time from prior selections of a hit zone.

  • Patent number: 9014618
Abstract: A cellular telecommunications network base station repeater for a mobile terminal in a network having a power control function causes, during an active communication session, mobile terminal uplink transmit power to decrease in response to an increase in signal strength of the received uplink signal. The gain of the repeater is increased in response to an increase in the uplink signal received at the repeater above a threshold, and subsequently decreasing the gain until the measured power in the received uplink signal exceeds the threshold. Due to the power control function, increasing the gain causes the transmit power of the mobile terminal, and hence the uplink signal received at the repeater, to decrease. Decreasing the gain causes the transmit power, and hence the received uplink signal, to increase. The threshold not being exceeded is indicative of the communication no longer being active, and the repeater will eventually deactivate.

  • Patent number: 8989170
Abstract: A wireless communication device in a wireless network sets management information notification cycles at specified time intervals and transmits management information containing receive timing information showing its own position to start receiving information, receive window information, and receive cycle information. Another wireless communication device receiving that management information links it to a communication device number for the corresponding wireless communication device and stores the receive timing, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information. When sending information, the receive start position of the corresponding communication device is found from the receive timing information, the receive window information, and the receive cycle information of the other communication and information is then transmitted at that timing. An asynchronous ad-hoc communication wireless network can therefore be configured without a particular control station.

Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for signaling-triggered power adjustment in a femto cell. Attachment signal activity is measured and a set of derived signaling activity metrics are assessed and compared with a set of thresholds. An activity metric that overcomes an associated threshold results in a power adjustment of the transmission power of a femto access point (AP). By monitoring LAU (location area update), RAU (routing area update), and call activity, signaling activity metrics (e.g., signaling failure rate, access control rejection rate, or dwell time) are determined and a femto AP can optimize transmission power to ensure coverage maintenance and confinement, as well as mitigate unnecessary signaling. Alarm(s) can be conveyed to a femto network platform when power increases after an adjustment cycle; alarm(s) can prompt a network-based response to actively address femto cell operation. Signaling-triggered power management affects operation of AP serving the femto cell and served mobile terminals.

Abstract: A process and machine for estimating the location of a wireless terminal is disclosed. The illustrative embodiment of the present invention is based on the observation that the signal strength of a signal from a transmitter is different at some locations, and, therefore, the location of a wireless terminal can be estimated by comparing the signal strength it currently observes against a map or database that correlates locations to signal strengths. In accordance with a first example, if a particular radio station is known to be received well at a first location and poorly at a second location, and a given wireless terminal at an unknown location is receiving the radio station poorly, it is more likely that the wireless terminal is at the second location than it is at the first location.

Abstract: Time synchronization of two clocks is disclosed herein, such as two stationary clocks. A global time signal from a global time reference or common time source can be used to calculate a common view based clock offset between the two clocks. In parallel, a network based clock offset between the two clocks can be calculated based on messages exchanged over a communication network interconnecting the two clocks, without reverting to the global time reference. Two recent values (e.g., the two most recent values) of the common view clock offset and the network based clock offset can be combined or superposed in a seamless way to produce a final time offset estimate. The combination of independently calculated common view and network based clock offsets can be a weighted average of the two values, involving respective weights based on quality estimates of the latter.

Abstract: In receiving a file delivery session in which field descriptor tables (FDTs) identify Transport Objects (TOs) transmitted along with the FDTs, a receiver determines whether the files of the session have been received using a number of timers. A fragment wait timer t1 is started for each new TO declared in an FTD when that FDT is received. Each timer is cancelled when at least a fragment of the corresponding TO is received. Alternatively, a single timer is cancelled when at least a fragment of all the TOs have been received. A new object wait timer t3 is started when all the TOs declared in an FDT are received, and is cancelled when a new FDT is received. One of a number of table wait timers t2 is started whenever a TO which is not declared in any received FDT is received, and is cancelled when an FDT declaring that object is received. The file delivery session is left if any timer expires.
