Responsive To Vehicle Speed Patents (Class 455/238.1)
  • Patent number: 11498588
Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus is capable of switching between an automatic driving control mode and a manual driving mode. The apparatus includes a driver state monitor and a vehicle controller. The driver state monitor monitors a gaze of a driver and a state of the driver. The vehicle controller controls steering and a drive system in the automatic driving control mode. In a case that the driver state monitor detects that the driver gazes at a device that is operated by the driver as a second task when the vehicle controller requests to the driver for a takeover from the automatic driving control mode to the manual driving mode, the vehicle controller stops a function of the device.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for estimating the velocity of a mobile station in Rician fading environments in which a direct wave exists. Cellular mobile communication environments include two environments, Rician fading environments in which a direct wave exists and Rayleigh fading environments in which a direct wave does not exist. Generally, many methods for estimating the velocity of a mobile station have been known in Rayleigh fading environments. However, in Rician fading environments in which a direct wave exists, many errors occurs in estimating the velocity of a mobile station due to difficulty in estimation of a Rician coefficient K and an incident angle ?0. According to the invention, a method is provided wherein error is mostly eliminated in estimating the velocity of a mobile station by obtaining a maximum Doppler frequency of the mobile station, even without directly obtaining a Rician coefficient K and an incident angle ?0.

Abstract: Mobile station equipment, base station equipment, and an exchange equipped with all or some units for monitoring the speed of a mobile station, making a judgment whether or not the speed exceeds a given threshold value, and restricting both or at least one of channel control and call processing regarding a call occurring at the corresponding mobile station. These mobile station equipment, base station equipment, and exchange operate alone or associate with each other through radio transmission paths or other links. Further a mobile communication system may include these mobile station equipment, base station equipment, and exchange. In the above equipment exchange, accidents normally caused by some operation of an operator on the mobile station equipment in response to a call occurring in the mobile station equipment moving at a high speed are prevented efficiently and reliably.

  • Patent number: 7215724
Abstract: A WCDMA receiver in which the dependencies of different functional modules are arranged to allow proper tailoring of the Channel Estimation (CE) module bandwidth. A PreCE provides rough estimation results of the channel complex gain. The rough estimation results are passed to the Automatic Frequency Control (AFC). The AFC outputs a signal transmitted to two mixers. The first mixer mixes the output of the PreCe with the output of the AFC and outputs the result to a Velocity estimator (VE) and a PostCE to generate the compensating signals. The output of the VE is also transmitted to the PostCE. The output of the PostCE is sent to a Maximum Ratio Combining module, whose output is mixed by the second mixer with the output of the AFC to generate a final signal.

  • Patent number: 7120439
Abstract: A mobile radio velocity estimation system (100) includes an autocorrelation block (106) that determines the autocorrelation of a received signal (104) using one lag (102). A power determination block (108) determines the power of the received signal (104) and a divider block (114) divides the autocorrelation (110) by the power (112). Using a Bessel function lookup table (116) and a multiplication by ?/? block (118), an estimate (120) for the mobile radio's velocity can be calculated. A method for estimating the velocity of a mobile radio (500) is also discussed.

  • Patent number: 6879920
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method for estimating a movement speed of a mobile unit in a mobile radio communication system. First, the present invention receives a first signal from the mobile unit. Then, the system calculates an envelope of the first signal and obtains a second signal by squaring the envelope. Next, the system obtains a third signal by multiplying the second signal by a modulated carrier, the carrier including a carrier frequency. According to the third signal, the present invention estimates the movement speed of the mobile unit.

Abstract: In response to the resetting of a timer 6, a received electric field level measuring unit 3 measures the received electric field level in a predetermined time, and a control unit 4 computes the average level Vav in that time and compares this level Vav with a threshold level Vth. The unit 4 then computes a cycle period Tav of generation of levels in excess of the threshold level Vth in a predetermined time, and compares this cycle period Tav with a threshold cycle period Tth for high speed movement judgment as set in a memory 5. When Tav is shorter than Tth, the unit 4 judges and recognizes that the telephone set is in high speed movement, so that it can give an alarm to the person carying the telephone is set while at the same time changing the received sound level or automatically informing that the telephone set is in high speed movement.
