Abstract: In order to be able to carry out remote control of another appliance easily and favorably using a transmission network such as Bluetooth. In case of transmitting a command of a predetermined format between one appliance and another appliance capable of transmitting data bidirectionally over a predetermined radio transmission network, when the one appliance transmits a first command for instructing a function block which is an object for control to the other appliance, a function block which is an object for control by the second command transmitted from the one appliance is determined to be a function block specified by the first command. Further, if setting of the function block which is the object for control by the first command exists on the other appliance, the one appliance can be recognized by a response to a predetermined command from the one appliance.

  • Patent number: 6466554
Abstract: A satellite data distribution method and system in which a subscriber can receive a data distribution service via a mobile communication system. The satellite data distribution system includes a mobile communication system having at least one base station unit communicating with the subscribers. The data to be distributed is transmitted from a center station of the satellite data distribution system to a satellite. The data is distributed from the satellite to the base station unit of the mobile communication system. Then, the data is distributed from the base station unit to the subscribers via the mobile communication system. Thus, a satellite data reception unit is not necessarily provided to each of the subscribers.

  • Publication number: 20020137507
Abstract: A system and method for providing multimedia services for electronic message center over a global computer network or cellular network, enabling Users to send SMS messages including text and multimedia items. Original text messages are delivered to graphical engine application where it is processed and analyzed, based on known algorithms for text processing. Based on text analysis the engine application selects or generates multimedia items according to pre-defined rules or algorithms and User preferences. The multimedia items and text are merged into one single message, which is delivered to any designated addresses. Optionally the user may review and edit the message as he pleases.

  • Patent number: 6393607
Abstract: A cable television tap (500) for receiving a forward signal including an information signal and a power signal. The tap (500) includes a diplex filter (520) for receiving the forward signal and for separating the information signal from the power signal at outputs of the diplex filter (520) and a plurality of subscriber ports (535) coupled to an output of the diplex filter (520) for receiving the information signal such that the information signal can be accessed at each of the plurality of subscriber ports (535). The tap (500) also includes a removable port device (555) coupled to the other output of the diplex filter (520) for receiving the power signal, and the port device (555) has a connector (550) so that the power signal can be accessed. According to the present invention, when the port device (555) is coupled to the tap (500), the information signal can only be accessed at the subscriber ports (535), and the power signal can only be accessed at the connector (550) of the port device (555).

  • Patent number: 6349324
Abstract: When a line for communication of audio signals between first and second portable-telephone devices through a first portable-telephone base station, a second portable-telephone base station and a portable-telephone line network has been connected, IP addresses are exchanged. The IP addresses are required for communicating image data by first and second terminal adapters associated with the first and second portable-telephone devices respectively through an OCN. Image data is then transmitted to the IP addresses received in the communication through the OCN. To put it concretely, an image of the user of the first portable-telephone device is transmitted by the first terminal adapter through the OCN to the IP address of the second terminal adapter to be displayed by a second television receiver associated with the second terminal adapter.

  • Publication number: 20020002032
Abstract: A system provides user customized radio (UCR) services, and can provide a subscription-based service that allows a user to select subject matter they wish to hear about on their radios. The system is especially suited for use with digital radio receivers. The system includes features by which each user of the system is able to select from categories of information broadcast to an “intelligent” radio receiver. The specific categories and topics selected result in a customized broadcast where the user receives audio text that match their stored profile from a database of thousands of stories updated daily. This system would require the user to obtain a Digital Radio Receiver (DRR). The UCR system broadcasts the collective stories as broadcast information, that all users have requested. Each DRR searches the broadcast for broadcast information that match its user's requested profile.
