  • Publication number: 20020081968
Abstract: A method and system for providing radio, TV audio, and other broadcasts over a telephone. The preferred method allows a listener to telephonically access an automated system capable of connecting to a plurality of broadcasting stations, permits the listener to select a desired station, and transmits broadcast of the desired station via the telephone.

  • Publication number: 20020065669
Abstract: A method and system for provisioning a customized telecommunications circuit between two terminal points is provided, wherein an facilitator provisions the circuit on behalf of a customer. According to one method customer request for a circuit between the terminal points is received. A plurality of network parameters relating to the customer request are then evaluated by consulting a database of information relating to a plurality of available network segments from separate transport suppliers. At least one customized circuit option is identified, and a plurality of network segments from separate transports suppliers is linked via at least one facilitator-controlled exchange facility to form a provisioned circuit between the terminal points. Access to the provisioned circuit is then provided to the customer.

  • Publication number: 20020002032
Abstract: A system provides user customized radio (UCR) services, and can provide a subscription-based service that allows a user to select subject matter they wish to hear about on their radios. The system is especially suited for use with digital radio receivers. The system includes features by which each user of the system is able to select from categories of information broadcast to an “intelligent” radio receiver. The specific categories and topics selected result in a customized broadcast where the user receives audio text that match their stored profile from a database of thousands of stories updated daily. This system would require the user to obtain a Digital Radio Receiver (DRR). The UCR system broadcasts the collective stories as broadcast information, that all users have requested. Each DRR searches the broadcast for broadcast information that match its user's requested profile.

  • Patent number: 6282422
Abstract: A radio communication apparatus capable of solving a problem involved in a conventional apparatus in that in addition to a first receiver, a second receiver must be provided for establishing synchronization with a contiguous base station, which causes an increase in a circuit scale and consumed power of a mobile station. The present radio communication apparatus switches, when carrying out handoff from the current base station to a contiguous base station, a receiving frequency of a receiver from the frequency of the current base station to that of the contiguous base station, and a counter to be corrected by a synchronization manager from a first counter to a second counter that is used to establish synchronization with the contiguous base station.
