Patent number: 8626161Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate enabling multiple address access between two or more networks. A home agent can update a binding cache with a particular proxy binding update (PBU) to include two or more network gateway IP addresses associated with a user equipment (UE) within two or more networks or systems. When the UE in idle mode moves between networks or systems to which registration has occurred, an attachment procedure is not performed since the home agent includes the network gateway IP addresses related to such UE. Thus, inter-system idle mode mobility is enabled without having to perform a full attachment, re-registration, or de-registration based on the network location of the UE.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2008Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Gerardo Giaretta, Kalle I. Patent number: 7236764Abstract: In code division multiple access communication systems, there are three levels for updating locations of dormant mobile stations (MSs) and setting up fast call. In sector and are levels, the dormant MS send a layer 2 message containing a message type and MS identifier to a base transceiver station (BTS). Since the message is associated with the sector where the MS is located, the network is aware of the MS's location from the updated location. The dormant MS sends to the BTS a reconnect message containing a message type and an MS identifier. The MS's dormant to active state transition is initiated by the MS. In the communication network, sub-packet zone ID is broadcasted in the overhead message. The MS reports its location change on R-CSCH and the network with the BSC level control can page the MS within the zone where the MS sends the report.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2004Date of Patent: June 26, 2007Assignee: Nortel Networks LimitedInventors: Hang Zhang, Mo-Han Fong, Ke-Chi Jang, Jun Li, Xixian Chen, Chung-Ching Wang, Geng Wu, James Weisert

Patent number: 7003319Abstract: A cellular telephone (102) in a vehicle includes a data carrier system comprising a first semi-permanent Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) (200) selectively couplable to the cellular telephone (102) and a second SIM (300) selectively couplable to the cellular telephone (102) in preference to the first SIM (200), the first SIM (200) being arranged to be decoupled from the cellular telephone (102) when the second SIM (300) is coupled to the cellular telephone (102). During a predetermined period of time, the cellular telephone (102) is arranged to be ensured of a supply of power and the second SIM (300) is arranged to be decoupled from the cellular telephone (102), thereby causing the first SIM (200) to be coupled to the cellular telephone (102) for the execution of a task requiring the first SIM (200).Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1999Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Stephen Andrew Howell, Nigel Everard Barnes

Patent number: RE40970Abstract: The invention relates to a wireless communication device that attaches using magnetic force in whole or part to an article of manufacture, or other material having a magnetic surface portion. The wireless communication device contains a form of a magnet to provide magnetic force and attraction. A magnet can be a natural magnet, electromagnet or other type of material having magnetic properties. The wireless communication device may be detached from the article by altering the magnetic force created by its associated magnet. Altering is accomplished by using an external device or a device internal to the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device is also operable to receive and communicate information regarding the article to which it is attached remotely for identification, informative, and tracking purposes.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: November 17, 2009Inventors: Ian J.
