  • Patent number: 10517063
Abstract: An improved technique for the estimation of the location of a wireless terminal. A disclosed location engine is capable of utilizing a service set identifier (SSID) or a media access control (MAC) address, or both, received from a reporting wireless terminal, in order to improve the estimate of the wireless terminal's location. The location engine generates a first hypothesis for the location of the wireless terminal based on evidence of the location of the wireless terminal, such signal strength measurements, wherein the evidence is independent of the SSID and MAC addresses. The location engine also generates a second hypothesis for the location based on the SSID or a third hypothesis for the location based on the MAC address, or both. An estimate of location of the wireless terminal is based on a combination of the first, second, and third hypotheses. The estimate can then be used in a location-based application.

  • Patent number: 10470044
Abstract: User equipment (UE) within dual connectivity (DC) architecture with a Master Node-B (MN) and a Secondary Node-B (SN) includes processing circuitry decoding connection reconfiguration information from the MN. The connection reconfiguration information includes signaling radio bearer type 3 (SRB3) configuration information. The SRB3 configuration information originates from the SN and configures a SRB3, the SRB3 for a radio resource control (RRC) connection between the UE and the SN. An RRC connection reconfiguration request message received from the SN via the SRB3 is decoded. The RRC connection reconfiguration request message includes UE new radio (NR) security capability information of the SN. The processing circuitry further determines whether the UE NR security capability information received from the SN matches UE NR security capability information received by the UE from the MN.

  • Patent number: 10470042
Abstract: A short message service (SMS) message is encrypted using an encryption key stored at a user equipment and an access and mobility management function (AMF) and the encrypted SMS message is added to a payload of a non-access stratum (NAS) message that includes an NAS header. Integrity protection is applied to the NAS message using an integrity key stored at the user equipment and the AMF and the integrity-protected NAS message is transmitted. The NAS message is received via an NAS link between the user equipment and the AMF. An integrity check is performed on the NAS message using the integrity key. An encrypted short message service (SMS) message is extracted from a payload of the NAS message in response to the integrity check being successful and the encrypted SMS message is decrypted using the encryption key.

  • Patent number: 10470105
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a network status information transfer method. In one example method, a first message, transmitted by a third-party server to a user equipment (UE), is received by the UE. The first message comprises an identifier, associated with a trusted wireless local area networks (WLAN) network (TWAN), and first indication information indicating that a packet data network gateway (PGW) is overloaded. If the UE has added the identifier associated with the TWAN to a blacklist, the identifier associated with the TWAN is deleted, by the UE, from the blacklist in response to receiving the first message.

  • Patent number: 10460316
Abstract: In one embodiment, a transaction is authenticated by a payment provider, as opposed to a merchant, using two user devices without the user having to enter information, such as an email or password. When the user is ready to make a purchase from a merchant site, a unique transaction ID is created by the payment provider. That transaction ID, along with data about the transaction, such as specific items and cost, is automatically sent to the payment provider through a second device linked to the purchasing device. The payment provider compares the identifier from the sending device, such as the phone number, and the transaction ID with information stored in its database. If there is a match, the transaction/user may be approved or authenticated.
