Abstract: An underground mine communications upgrade comprises an independent VHF-UHF band to MF band repeater-transceiver translator (RTT) and loop antenna added to a conventional miner's cap-lamp and helmet. VHF/UHF band communications with nearby conventional handsets are translated to medium frequency (MF band) communications that couple mine-wide to copper-core life-lines in all the entries. Such life-lines also do well supporting ultra low frequency (ULF), through-the-earth (TTE) communications with the surface above. Roof mounted borehole MF band ULF RTT's are coupled to the dual-frequency life-lines and bridge the MF band communications on the life-lines with the ULF communications on the life-lines. The MF band radio traffic primarily consists of digital packetswitch communications.

For example, a user may subscribe to such a service so that the user may automatically transfer a call from the user's cellular telephone to the user's home or office landline telephone when that landline telephone is taken off-hook.

Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus including a first and second communication units: the first for non-contact communication with a first/second external apparatus through a first path; and the second for communication with the first/second external apparatus through a second path. The apparatus also includes a unit for controlling the second communication unit to start communication with the second external apparatus through the second path, by a request for such communication transmitted from the second external apparatus to the first communication unit. The apparatus also includes a unit for managing information to be held when the request is received. The information indicates a state of communication with the first external apparatus through the second path at the reception of the request. Under the control, communication with the first communication unit specified by the information starts through the second path, where communication with the second external apparatus has been terminated.

Abstract: A method for avoiding signal interference between a first RF device and a second RF device is provided. The first and second RF devices are co-located and the first RF device is configured to operate in a first frequency range. The second RF device is configured to operate in a second frequency range, where the first frequency range overlaps, at least in part, the first frequency range. The method initiates with a communication interface being provided between the first RF device and the second RF device. Then, the second RF device is configured to avoid RF signal collisions with the first RF device when the first RF device is active. An apparatus where two RF devices are co-located without causing interference for each other is also provided.

Abstract: The IC card is mounted on the read and write device and the first electrostatic induction electrode and second electrostatic induction electrode are formed facing each other. The data signal is outputted from the first transmission and reception circuit to the first electrostatic induction electrode when the data signal is transmitted from the IC card to the read and write device. Then the first electrostatic induction electrode is charged based on the data signal and the electrostatic induction signal of the opposite polarity is induced at the second electrostatic induction electrode. The inverted data signal appears at the second electrostatic induction electrode. The second transmission and reception circuit of the read and write device receives and amplifies the inverted data signal, leading to the non-contact data communication with lower energy consumption and the lower cost.

Abstract: A telephone is described that allows any arbitrary combination of key strokes, including numerical keys, extension keys, as well as function keys such as TRANSFER, CONFERENCE, etc., to be programmed such that the entire sequence of key strokes can be recalled with the touch of a single button. The phone can be programmed directly by operation of the telephone user interface on the phone (i.e., the keys, phone display, and speaker prompting the user) and a program button dedicated to the feature of programming a separate programmable button to map to the specified key sequence. The feature can be implemented in advanced telephones capable of voice over Internet Protocol networks, and supporting the Session Initiation Protocol. In these more advanced phones, the programming can be done by a system administrator or by the user of the phone via a computer with internet access.

With the provision cable holder, communications cables can be both brought closer to the printed wiring board. With such a configuration, the coupling point among the communications cables and the printed wiring board, and the enclosure can be favorably reduced. The resulting storage control apparatus of the invention can be mounted with a larger number of storage devices, thereby being able to keep the signal quality.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for improving the coverage of a wireless network based on frequency shifting scheme. A wireless signal in a frequency band is shifted to another distinct band, and carried in the shifted band, using wired or wireless mediums to another location, wherein the wireless signal is shifted back to the original frequency band. The frequency shifting may make use of a conventional frequency shifting schemes such as mixer/filter and heterodyne. In one embodiment the wireless signal is frequency shifted by converting it to other representing signals (such as I/Q components) and forming the frequency-shifted signal from the representations. The system is may be used to increase in-door or outdoor coverage, as well as bridging between in-door and outdoor networks. The medium may use dedicated wiring or existing service wiring in a residence or building, including LAN, telephone, AC power and CATV wiring.

Abstract: A mobile telephone is easy to carry around but has a small keypad and a small display. A normal deskphone has a big keypad and display and has a convenient handset, but is stationary. A stationary communications terminal is described which is connected to a mobile telephony network via a mobile telephone. The mobile and the stationary terminal have each a BLUETOOTH radio transceiver and are interconnected via a BLUETOOTH link. The stationary communications terminal lacks identity in the mobile network. A subscriber, owning the mobile, can call on the stationary communications terminal and can move to another network having another stationary terminal, on which he can make a call. Another subscriber with a mobile can call on the communications stationary terminal. To prevent misuse the subscribers take an authentication code for his respective mobile on the stationary terminal, and the authentication can be made valid for a predetermined period by taking a service code.
