A plurality of guide grooves are formed in the opposed surfaces of the plates, respectively, so that each of the grooves extends perpendicular to the corresponding groove formed in the other plate. A steel ball is disposed between each pair of guide grooves of the plates at a portion where the pair of grooves cross each other. When the steel balls are pushed by the driving plate, they push the driven plate while rolling in the guide grooves, with their movements restricted by a retainer in the radial direction of the plates. Thus, large power can be smoothly transmitted between the rotary members with less frictional resistance. The offset amount can be changed easily. • Patent number: 5738504
Abstract: A thrust bearing and coupling component includes a fixed ring fastened to an inner surface of the housing and an orbiting ring fastened to an axial end surface of the end plate of the orbiting member facing the fixed ring. The fixed and orbiting rings have a plurality of corresponding circular pockets, each pocket on the fixed ring faces a pocket on the orbiting ring corresponding in size, pitch, and radial distance. A ball bearing is placed within each facing pair of corresponding pockets. The corresponding pockets interact with the ball bearings to prevent rotation of the orbiting member during orbital motion. The circular pockets include rounded corners formed at the open end thereof which interact non-abrasively with the ball bears. Thus, the rotation preventing and thrust bearing device may be easily constructed and manufactured, and its components may exhibit a longer life.

  • Patent number: 5542829
Abstract: A self-rotation blocking mechanism in a scroll compressor having a movable scroll member and fixed scroll member fixed to a casing. The mechanism is constructed of circumferentially spaced opposing pairs of pins 9 and 10, which are connected to an end plate 12 of the movable scroll member 2 and a faced end wall of the casing 4, respectively, and which are in a side-by-side contacting relationship. The circumferential arrangement of the pins is such that, at every angular position of the movable scroll member, there exists at least one pair of the pins which generates a force in a direction opposite to a self-rotating torque applied to the movable scroll member caused by the compression reaction force. A locally concentrated arrangement of the pairs of the pins for generating such a force can be employed at the angular position which produces a larger value of self-rotating torque.

  • Patent number: 5147192
Abstract: A scroll-type compressor having a unique coupling arrangement for driving the movable scroll is provided. The side of the base portion of the movable scroll opposite the spirals has a plurality of recesses disposed in a circular pattern. A support plate having a plurality of complementary recesses therein is positioned such that its recesses face the recesses in the movable plate. The diameters of the first and second recesses are different from one another. Coupling members are disposed between each facing pair of recesses. The coupling member has small and large diameter portions. The small diameter portion extends into its associated smaller recess while the large diameter portion extends into its larger associated recess. With this arrangement, the required width of the recess bearing portion of the support plate may be reduced relative to conventional designs which has several advantages.
