The sleeve is used to isolate the rotary and axial motion of the shaft into two components so that each seal will only see one type of motion. In order to accomplish this, the sleeve is restrained from axial motion relative to the opening and has synchronous rotary motion with the shaft. Abstract: A Pot-type universal joint transmits torque from one shaft to another using four rollers mounted on four trunnions. The trunnions maintain their mutual perpendicularity under all operating conditions. They are free to move relatively to each other and to the shaft to which they are joined but in a way that satisfies the kinematic requirements set forth in the specification, while providing a torsionally rigid connection between the shafts. The transmission of torque is homokinetic. The joint is adaptable for either axially fixed or axially displaceable requirements.

  • Patent number: 4352276
Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint includes a centering device which restricts each cardan joint to mutually equal operating angles by the use of annular involute gear teeth designed to mesh in the homokinetic plane. A boot seal simultaneously flexes and rolls as the universal joint articulates to develop a kneading action which pumps lubricant among the gear teeth.

  • Patent number: 4329899
Abstract: A device for converting the rotary motion of a crank mechanism into the linear motion of a slide block. In order to enable the slide block to make a constant velocity motion in an angular range required by the crank pin and extending from the crank pin in opposite directions, the device is designed to control the angular velocity of the crank mechanism along the ideal angular velocity variation curve.
