Abstract: Presented is a gudgeon assembly that includes a gudgeon body, a first ball bearing, a second ball bearing, a gudgeon pin, a first spring plate, a second spring plate, and two springs. The gudgeon pin extends through the gudgeon body and is coaxial with the first and second ball bearings. The first spring plate is coupled to a distal portion of the gudgeon pin. The second spring plate defines an opening and is coupled to the second ball bearing. The opening is coaxial with the second ball bearing and the gudgeon pin. The two springs are coupled to the first spring plate and the second spring plate. Longitudinal axes of the two springs are coplanar and non-coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the gudgeon pin. The gudgeon pin, the first spring plate, and the second spring plate rotate together as a single unit and rotate independently of the gudgeon body.

  • Patent number: 8070633
Abstract: An eccentric bottom bracket assembly having a body member, at least two wing members, a wedge driver with two wedge members, and at least one spring member altogether forming a tubular, cylindrical assembly to fit within the inner shell of the bottom bracket area of the bicycle frame for adjusting the chain length or tension. The assembly is preferably used for the front and rear bottom brackets of a tandem bicycle for adjusting the chain that is connected to the front and rear driving sprockets. The assembly is also alternatively used in single-rider bicycles and other bicycles with the need for adjusting chain tension. The assembly allows for the wing members and the body member to circumferentially and outwardly expand or inwardly retract by co-acting with the rotation of the wedge driver which laterally displaces the wedge members in a parallel direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the body member.

  • Publication number: 20100230250
Abstract: A conveying system has a roller and a shaft-hub assembly with a kingpin (81), an expansion element (83) and a hub (82). The kingpin has a cross-section corresponding to a cross-section of the hub so that the kingpin is fixed radially to the hub. The kingpin (81) is fixed rotationally to the hub (82). The expansion element in a relaxed state, has an external diameter that exceeds the internal diameter of the hub. The expansion element also is deformed elastically when the kingpin is disposed in the hub so that the external peripheral region (831) of the expansion element shifts from the relaxed position. Axial displacement of the external peripheral region of the expansion element is coupled with a reduction in the external diameter so that the reduced external diameter of the expansion element corresponds to the internal diameter of the corresponding internal peripheral region of the hub.
