Abstract: A measuring device that includes a base having a base reference surface to which a workpiece reference surface is opposed, measures a gap in an axial direction between the base reference surface and the workpiece reference surface by use of a fluid flowing between the base reference surface and the workpiece reference surface, in a state where the workpiece reference surface is opposed to the base reference surface. Dice, a distance to which in the axial direction from the base reference surface is known, form the external thread on the axial portion toward a direction away from the flange portion through rolling. A calculation device obtains a target position, in the axial direction, of the workpiece to be disposed on the dice, on the basis of the known distance and the measured gap.
Abstract: The removal starting position (8S1) of a first removal process and the four removal starting positions (8S21-8S24) in a second removal process are established on an imaginary circle (7I) with a prescribed radius (R) that is inscribed in the apex (7C) of an incomplete thread part (7a). In each removal process, the tip of the screw thread cutting tool shaves off the apex (7C) of the incomplete thread part (7a) into respective recesses, contacting the imaginary inscribed circle (7I) from the outside (above). The multiple cutting surfaces of the apex (7C) are formed in parallel helices (that is, as mutually adjacent helical recesses) from the starting position to the ending position of the incomplete thread part. Points and burrs in the incomplete thread part can thereby be eliminated or reduced without loss of the ability to screw together with a partner threaded fastener (threaded portion).
Abstract: A lubricating composition includes about 50 weight percent to about 70 weight percent of a blend including an olefinic resin and a wax. The lubricating composition also includes about 15 weight percent to about 30 weight percent of a fatty acid amide. The lubricating composition further includes about 10 weight percent to about 20 weight percent of a zinc salt of a fatty acid having carboxylate groups each having 8 to 24 carbon atoms.
Abstract: A fastening element (1), in particular for blind riveting, has a setting head (4), a deformation segment (2) and a shank end (3). The deformation segment (2) is arranged between the setting head (4) and the shank end (3). The fastening element (1) is hollow, optionally having a mandrel (7) inside the fastening element (1). The mandrel includes a head (23) and a foot (24) at least tension-resistantly connected to the shank end (3). The shank end (3) includes a punching edge (6) extending substantially along the outermost periphery of the shank end (3). Also identified are a process for setting the fastening element (1), a riveted connection to the fastening element (1), a device for setting the fastening element (1), an employment of the riveted connection obtained, and a die suitable for setting the fastening element (1).
Abstract: An adjustably expandable fluted tap to reform damaged threads defined in a blind hole, such as a spark plug hole. The tool provides an elongate body with a first end defining an expandable fluted tap having a relaxed diameter smaller than but matingly similar to the threads to be repaired, and a second end defining a butterfly handle. The body defines a medial channel carrying an arbor with a first end having a tapered forcing cone for expanding the fluted tap, and a second end threadedly engaged in a round knurled nut carried externally of the second end of the body. The tap is inserted in a hole beyond the damaged threads, the knurled nut tightened to retract the forcing cone to expand the fluted tap into mating engagement with the undamaged threads and the tool is then screwed out of the hole by revolving the butterfly handle to reform the damaged threads as it is withdrawn therepast.
Abstract: A threading tool for repairing, in situ, threads within a bore of a head of an internal combustion engine without the danger of particulate waste falling into the engine housing. The threading tool can be used separately or in combination with a reaming tool for deburring, in situ, rough edges generally at the crest of threads within a bore of a head of an internal combustion engine without the danger of particulate waste falling into the engine housing.
