Patent number: 6419588Abstract: An assistive cue device securely holds a cue and allows one-handed billiards play. In the preferred embodiment, a control guide slidingly mounted on the shaft grips the cue while a head of the device retains the tip of the cue in a cue hole. The head and a slide retainer ring are connected by a shaft, along which the control guide slides with the cue when the player moves the cue. The head has a plurality of supports, preferably in the form of sides of a polygonal cross-section, upon which the head can rest, each of which provides an elevation for the cue above the surface of the table. Patent number: 5853333Abstract: The present invention provides a simple and yet fully functional billiard bridge head guiding apparatus which permits angular control of a cue stick at both three axis compound angles and at an adjustable height off the billiard or pool table. Two gimbals are utilized in which the cue holding inner gimbal may be rotated about: 1) the longitudinal axis of a bridge stick; 2) the end longitudinal axis of a straight, bent, or curved elongated shaft; and 3) an axis normal to that of second axis above. In addition, the radial displacement of the gimbal from the first axis above is adjustable by means of shaft elongation. The bridge head does not require use of a custom bridge stick, but rather any cue stick is useable.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Inventor: Thomas D. Patterson

Patent number: 5846137Abstract: A new billiard cue bridge comprising a roughly H-shaped base which supports a generally upside down U-shaped vertical standard attached at the cross-bar of the base. The attachment is hinged at the cross-bar in a manner that permits the vertical standard to be latched in the vertical position and to fold down substantially flat with the base in the horizontal position. Mounted on the vertical standard are upper and lower slidable members. The upper slidable member includes a hole through which a pool or billiard cue may be passed and supported. Located in the upper portion of the hole is a small friction pad that permits the bridge to be lifted and repositioned by the cue. The lower slidable member functions as an optional positive lock to assure that the vertical standard remains in the latched vertical position when in use.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1997Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Assignee: George AdairInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 5785602Abstract: The Cue Putter is unique golf club, far superior in design to existing putters. It is designed to maximize a golfer's putting accuracy and consistency. The Cue Putter consists of a wooden club shaft, a guide block, rubber "O"-rings, and a transparent Plexiglas clubhead. The Cue Putter is designed to be used while kneeling on the green, with the putter's shaft aligned and used parallel to the putting surface. The Cue-Putter is gripped with one hand, and the stroke is executed primarily with the fingers and wrist instead of the arms and shoulders used with traditional putters. This improves the golfer's putting "touch" tremendously, because the innate precision of the hand and fingers cannot be matched by the larger muscle groups of the arms and shoulders. The Cue Putter also provides an ideal, "real time" view of the slope and undulation of the green, instead of a vague, "mental snapshot" taken while the golfer crouches down yards behind the ball prior to assuming his stance.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1996Date of Patent: July 28, 1998Assignee: Christopher J. MorabitoInventor: Christopher J. Morabito

Patent number: 5645490Abstract: An adjustable cue bridge includes a plurality of rotatable members, at least one of which has at least one cue receiving notch. The members are mounted about a body and are rotatable between a first overlapping, compact storage position to at least one deployed position in which the cue receiving notch in at least one of the plurality of members is positioned for supporting a cue. Detents formed in certain of the rotatable members are engaged by a detent paw in another of the rotatable members to releasibly lock the rotatable members in any of the storage and deployed positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1995Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Inventor: Lester B. Patent number: 5474502Abstract: A body having a handle portion and a frame portion. The frame portion has an opening with one or more channels, which may be defined by adjoining walls, grooves or paired protuberances, for cradling the cue. A player braces the handle portion against the table and inserts the cue through the opening with the cue cradled in a channel. A slide having a slide channel may be disposed in the opening of the frame. A resilient member, such as a rubber O-ring, spans the frame and is connected to the slide. The player inserts the cue between the slide and the frame channel. The resilient member biases the slide channel against the cue, which, in turn, bears against the frame channel. The cue is thus captivated between the slide channel and the frame channel while the player makes a shot.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Inventor: Ulysses S. A. Brown

Patent number: 5295682Abstract: A portable bridge for use with a cue stick in a game of billiards. The bridge has a base with support means. An upright arm is connected to the base. The upright arm has at least one opening therein through which the cue stick is slidably received. In one embodiment, the front of the base has a concave end formed therein. When the cue stick is lifted, the concave top of the base engages a portion of a cue stick, the back of the base drops away from the cue stick and the portable bridge may be lifted and moved as desired. In an alternate embodiment, a keeper is provided to be manually adjusted on the cue stick, which prevents the cue stick from being withdrawn through the opening in the upright arm. The portable bridge may be lifted and moved to a desired location. The keeper may be manually adjusted to permit withdrawal of the cue stick from the opening in the upright arm.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1993Date of Patent: March 22, 1994Inventor: Robert G. Leonard
