Patent number: 7429217Abstract: A cue stroke practice aid is used by a billiards player to improve the player's cue stroke by repetitiously practicing the stroke at varying skill levels until a consistent stroke is developed. The practice aid comprises an elongated housing with first and second openings at opposed ends. A slide assembly is positioned in the elongated housing. The slide assembly includes a shaft, equi-spaced rails extending axially from the shaft, cue guide arms and an adjusting knob. The adjusting knob is used to move the rails laterally within the housing. This has the effect of causing cue guide arms to radially expand or contract from the axis shaft to form a tubular cavity of a desired cross dimension. The opening defined by tips of the cue guide fingers provides a target for the billiards player to practice a stroke at a selected cross dimension according to an attainable skill level.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2007Date of Patent: September 30, 2008Inventor: David E. Publication number: 20040248660Abstract: This new high tech state of the art pool cue refers to the game of pool and snooker and the like. This invention includes a hollowed out aluminum embodiment that is machined to specific specifications and has the standard shape appearance, length, taper, and looks of standard pool cues made in the years past with a lot of serious changes. The hollowed out embodiment houses a series of machined moving parts. When the stick is assembled it breaks down into a three piece collapsible stick that screws together. The rear part of the stick housed the barrel spring and tension mechanism, and one half of the impact rod, that controls, or adjusts by the user. The amount of impact or kinetic energy that will be released when the user presses the trigger by the turn of a coupler at the rear of the stick.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventor: Dominick Cestro

Patent number: 6066051Abstract: A pool cue having a sliding bridge sleeve with cleaning wipers provides for a smooth linear motion of the bridge sleeve while preventing frictional resistance due to contaminant buildup between the bridge sleeve bearings and the linear shaft of the pool cue.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Hyper-Designs, Inc.Inventors: Gregory V. Patent number: 5782693Abstract: Various embodiments of a sliding cue for gaming tables are shown and described. Each embodiment has a front portion for being held generally stationary in the user's front hand on the table and a back portion for being held in the user's back hand and for being moved forward and backward relative to the front portion. This forward and backward relative motion allows the user to accurately aim his shot, while holding the cue tip stably and generally motionless against or near the ball. The final forward motion of the back portion results in an impact between some part of the back portion and some part of the front portion, thus transferring kinetic energy to the front portion and, thus, to the tip of the front portion, so that the tip impacts the ball and completes the shot. An air-venting or regulating system may be included to adjust the amount of cushioning of the relative movements of the front and back portion of the cue.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1996Date of Patent: July 21, 1998Inventors: Frank L. Jordan, Michael G. Givens

Patent number: 5725436Abstract: A billiard cue stick extension comprises a shaft and an elongate rod. The shaft defines an elongate cavity which is open at one end to receive a cue stick. The other end of the shaft is combined with an elongate rod which effectively extends the length of the cue. The Shaft is made of a soft resilient material to friction-fit with the cue stick without marring it. The shaft is hollow and is made of a fiber reinforced plastic to emulate the performance of a cue stick without adding substantial weight to it.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1996Date of Patent: March 10, 1998Inventors: Cathy Miller, Michial E. Patent number: 5628691Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustable length pool cue for billiards, pool, snooker, and the like. The invention includes a cue rod having a butt end which is telescopically received within the open end of a tubular cue rod handle. A disc-shaped cam is eccentrically mounted on the butt end of the cue rod for rotatable movement between an unlocking position, wherein the cam is axially and peripherally aligned with the butt end of the cue rod to facilitate sliding telescopic movement of the cue rod within the cue rod handle, and a locking position, in which the cam is axially and peripherally offset relative to the butt end so as to frictionally grip and cammingly engage the cue rod handle, thereby locking the cue rod in a length-desired fixed position relative to the cue rod handle.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Inventor: David Shaner

Patent number: 5478282Abstract: A pool or billiard cue has a slender elongated and gradually tapered configuration throughout a major portion of its length but also has a front end portion of substantial length and which is of uniform diameter throughout its length. A tubular sleeve fits closely about the front end portion but is freely slideable relative thereto and therealong. The sleeve is engageable manually by a pool or billiard player with his bridge hand to facilitate and control the linear movement of the pool cue and to thus provide for a smooth and highly accurate stroke and shot with minimal friction.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1994Date of Patent: December 26, 1995Inventors: Jerry G. Possum, Robert A. Hayward
