Patent number: 6962659Abstract: An oil skimmer for removing oil floating on surfaces of bodies of water. The oil skimmer includes a support frame, respective drive pulley and guide pulleys rotatably mounted to the support frame on respective shafts, and a drive train which rotatively drives the drive pulley and guide pulleys. A skimmer hose in the form of a loop to which oil adhere floats on the body of water and is driven by the drive pulley through the guide pulley onto and off the surface of the body of water carrying adhered oil. A skimmer hose scraper disposed between the drive and guide pulleys removes the oil from the skimmer hose into a collection receptacle. The drive and guide pulleys comprise replaceable, quick changing inner and outer pulley halves that sandwich respective central hubs therebetween to space the pulley halves to fit skimmer hoses of different cross-sectional sizes. The central hubs with attached drive and guide pulley halves are affixed to the drive shafts using a quick release nut which threads to the shafts.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2003Date of Patent: November 8, 2005Assignee: Skimtech, Inc.Inventors: Blake W. Patent number: 6881166Abstract: A pulley consists of a pulley basic body which has a cylindrical outer circumferential surface. Sitting on this cylindrical outer circumferential surface is a tire which is of sandwich-like design with regard to its radial extent. This results in a plurality of rings concentric to one another. The ring which is furthest on the inside in the radial direction and the ring which is furthest on the outside in the radial direction are in each case elastomeric rings, whereas a reinforcing ring is located between them. The elastomeric outer ring is harder than the elastomeric inner ring, so that a very abrasion-resistant surface is achieved, over which the rope runs, whereas the elastomeric inner ring provides for adequate resilience. The reinforcing ring is provided in order to distribute the rope load as uniformly as possible over the elastomeric inner ring.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1999Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Wilhelm Kaechele GmbH ElastomertechnikInventors: Georg Burkhardt, Bruno Kaechele

Patent number: 5954605Abstract: A magnetic-tape-cassette apparatus provides a pulley (1, 21, 22) for a belt drive, particularly to a flywheel for a deck of the magnetic-tape-cassette apparatus. The pulley has a groove (10) at its circumferential edge (6, 7), in which groove a drive belt (11, 27) is engageable to drive the pulley. In order to manufacture such a pulley simply and cheaply, the pulley comprises a central disc (2) and a first (3) and a second (4) end disc. The first and the second end disc are shaped along their circumferences in such a manner that they form the groove in which the drive belt is engageable.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1997Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventor: Norbert Kunze
