With Spokes Connecting Rim To Hub Patents (Class 474/195)
  • Patent number: 11131051
Abstract: By improving the rigidity of a pulley while suppressing a weight of the pulley from increasing, excessive noises due to resonance can be reduced. A washing machine 1 includes a drum 9 rotatably disposed in the water tub 5. The washing machine 1 has a motor to rotationally drive a pulley 20, which is fixed to the drum 9, via an endless belt 13. The pulley 20 has a plurality of arms 23 radially extend from the boss 22 to support an outer wheel 21. The arm 23 has a variable cross-sectional portion 24 in which a section modulus against bending in an axial direction gradually decreases from the boss 22 to the outer wheel 21.

Abstract: Low-noise pulleys and methods of constructing low-noise pulleys are disclosed. In a first aspect, first and second pluralities of arms extending radially outward from the outer hub to the outer rim are angularly offset from each other about the axis of rotation to eliminate symmetry across the lateral midline of the pulley. In a second aspect, the radially outermost ends of a plurality of arms are arcuately spaced apart according to a pitch sequence describing a pseudo-random pattern of relative spacings so as to reduce or eliminate rotational symmetry of the pulley. In a third aspect, features of the first and second aspects are combined, and in one embodiment, first and second pluralities of arms are, respectively, approximately oppositely canted so as to vary the arcuate spacings of the laterally outermost ends of the arms.

  • Patent number: 8308591
Abstract: A resin pulley includes an outer cylindrical portion including an outer circumferential surface on which a belt is to be wound, an inner cylindrical portion, and a plurality of ribs connecting an inner circumferential surface of the outer cylindrical portion and an outer circumferential surface of the inner cylindrical portion, which are formed of a resin material. The ribs are provided so as to be inclined towards a circumferential direction relative to a radial imaginary line as viewed in an axial direction. Radially outer end portions of the ribs are formed such that inclination angles of the respective radially outer end portions relative to the radial imaginary line increase as the ribs extend radially outward, and radially inner end portions of the ribs are formed such that inclination angles of the respective radially inner end portions relative to the radial imaginary line increase as the ribs extend radially inward.

  • Publication number: 20120065011
Abstract: An idler pulley is described for a front end accessory drive. The idler pulley includes plurality of angled spokes, such as angled ribs molded into the pulley to join an outer hub and an outermost belt interacting region. As the belt runs over the surface of the pulley, any defects on the belt running surface of the pulley due to shrinkage and fill are now angled, and angling of the defects reduces direct impact with the belt and therefore reduces the structureborne noise produced by operation of the belt and the pulley.

  • Patent number: 7662058
Abstract: A bull-wheel for a rope transport installation comprises a hub and a peripheral rim joined to the hub by a metal connecting framework composed of a perforated central disk strengthened by rigidifying arms. The rim is radially subdivided into several circular segments assembled to one another by first fixing members. The hub is fixedly secured to a support enclosure comprising at least one coaxial plate of polygonal cross-section confining at the ends bearing surfaces for the central disk and the radial rigidifying arms assembled by second fixing members. The assembly is arranged so as to distribute the radial forces in the axis of the rope uniformly regardless of the angular position of the bull-wheel when the latter is driven in rotation.

  • Patent number: 4704864
Abstract: In a spoked drive wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter operating with power splitting, having a spoke for connecting a wheel hub to an external ring of the spoked drive wheel, the spoke cross-section is designed in the shape of a wing profile extending along a profile main axis. The profile main axis is transverse to the axis of rotation of the wheel. In this way, the deterioration in the characteristics of the torque converter is kept as small as possible in both power splitting operation and in operation without power splitting.

  • Patent number: 4464150
Abstract: An inner rigid pulley core is formed from a plurality of plate members extending radially from a centrally disposed shaft; or a predetermined axis of rotation at which the plate members meet and are connected together in the absence of a shaft. A cylindrical pulley shell is secured to the free ends of the plate members to form with the rigid pulley core a pulley with a face which in total acts as a beam (composite type). In one of the embodiments, where the radial plates are secured to each other, about the predetermined axis of rotation, the axial ends of the plates are extended near the axis of rotation on each end of the pulley to form ears about which an annular ring is secured to form shaft ends to facilitate mounting of the pulley. In another embodiment (where the plates are secured together about the axis of rotation) a cast end bell with stub shaft ends is secured to the pulley core and shell to facilitate mounting of the pulley.
