Cyclical Or Sequential (e.g., Machine Controlled, Etc.) Patents (Class 474/2)
  • Patent number: 7066854
Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle comprises an internal combustion engine, a starter/generator (SG), a motor control module (MCM), a traction motor (TM), a clutch, and a battery. The engine provides power to SG to generate poly-phase alternating current; it also drives the wheels directly when the clutch is engaged. TM drives the vehicle wheels; it also provides braking torque to the wheels and regenerates electric energy from the kinetic energy of the vehicle. TM is a multi-speed poly-phase induction motor and is electrically connected to SG. TM, SG and the clutch together accomplish the function of “changing gear”, and no mechanical transmission is needed. MCM provides alternating current to and control SG and TM to work in their desired modes. The battery stores and provides electrical energy as needed.

Abstract: A belt transmission apparatus is capable of changing a set tension of an automatic belt tensioner 30 between a first optimal value suitable for engine starting and a second optimal value suitable for driving an accessory after an engine 1 has been started. The belt transmission apparatus includes a rotating electric machine pulley 8 of a rotating electric machine for transmitting starting power to the engine 1; an engine pulley 2 for transmitting the starting power to the engine 1 and also transmitting a rotation power of the engine 1 to accessories; auxiliary pulleys 3, 4, 5 being driven to rotate by the power from the engine pulley 2 thereby to drive the accessories, respectively; a belt 10 wrapped around the rotating electric machine pulley 8, the engine pulley 2 and the auxiliary pulleys 3, 4, 5 in succession; and a belt tension adjuster 9, 30 for urging the belt 10 so as to set a tension of the belt 10 in a plurality of stages.

  • Patent number: 6357310
Abstract: A device for displacing a member in a graduated and motor-driven manner inside a tube that is external to the device, the member being displaced from one end of the tube, the displacement being evaluated by at least one position encoder delivering information on the position of the member placed at one end of a tubular element which is mounted to move in translation on a support body for supporting the device. The tubular element is in the form of a member-carrying worm which is provided with longitudinal toothed racks on its periphery. The worm is displaced in translation relative to the body which carries it under the action of a first toothed belt which is mounted on the support body, which is driven by a motor fixed to the body, and which is meshed with one of the racks. Another of the racks meshes with a second toothed belt which entrains a position encoder fixed to the body.

  • Patent number: 6106420
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission and a drive train having a continuously variable transmission. The transmission is provided with a drive pulley and a driven pulley, each having at least one axially displaceable disc in order to be able to pinch an endless transmission element between the discs of a pulley, the transmission being controlled, at least during full movement of the pulleys, in such a way that the pinching force of the drive pulley is dependent on the pinching force applied to the transmission element via the secondary pulley, and the pinching force applied being determined, at least in part, as a function of a torque which is to be transmitted. The transmission is adapted in such a manner that, at least while the pulleys are at a standstill or during the initial revolutions of the driven pulley, prior to the abovementioned method of control during full movement, the transmission is controlled in a different way which effects the presence of pinching force in the primary pulley.

  • Patent number: 5188007
Abstract: A hydraulic control apparatus for controlling a continuously variable transmission of a motor vehicle, which transmission includes a first and a second shaft, a pair of variable-diameter pulleys provided on the first and second shafts, respectively, a transmission belt connecting the pulleys, and a pair of hydraulic actuators one of which receives a belt tensioning pressure for controlling a tension of the belt. The hydraulic control apparatus includes a reversal detecting device for determining whether a rotating direction of the pulleys has been reversed or not, and a pressure increasing device for temporarily increasing the belt tensioning pressure when the reversal detecting device detects reversal of the rotating direction of the pulleys.
