  • Patent number: 6811504
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission (“CVT”) is disclosed. The CVT includes a drive pulley adapted to connect to a crankshaft of an engine. The drive pulley has inner and outer halves with belt engagement surfaces to engage the sides of the belt. The drive pulley of the CVT also includes a slide sleeve disposed on the shaft adapted to engage an inner side of a belt. The inner and outer halves of the drive pulley are biased apart from one another by a spring. The slide sleeve engages the belt when the belt is stationary or traveling at low speeds. The driven pulley includes inner and outer halves with belt engagement surfaces. The two halves are biased into contact with one another. A connector connects the inner half to the outer half. In addition, a pneumatically-actuated driven pulley is described together with a CVT incorporating same.

  • Publication number: 20030199346
Abstract: A variable speed transmission includes an actuator mechanism that can be remotely activated to cause engagement of a drive unit and to subsequently vary the speed of the drive unit using the same activation mechanism. The variable speed transmission can include a first pulley that has a first and second face that are movable relative to each other by activation of the actuator mechanism. When the first and second faces of the first pulley are located in a first position, a belt located on the first pulley remains motionless. The first and second faces can be moved by the actuator mechanism into a second position where the first and second plates engage the belt with enough frictional force to cause the belt to start moving about the first pulley. The first and second faces of the first pulley can also be moved between the second position and a third position such that the space between the faces becomes smaller.

  • Patent number: 5788592
Abstract: An agricultural forage box includes an infinitely positionable variable speed drive system and an improved trip mechanism. The variable position drive system utilizes a drive belt for driving the floor conveyor of the forage box, which is driven in response to rotation of a pair of sheave sections. One of the sheave sections can be moved relative to the other, and a sheave positioning mechanism provides adjustment in the position of the movable sheave section. The variable position mechanism includes a yoke which is movable in response to operation of an actuator plate and linkage mechanism, which in turn is interconnected with a control lever. The improved trip mechanism includes a trip bar mounted to the forage box for pivotal movement about its longitudinal axis. A trip lever is located adjacent a declutching tab associated with the power train. A pair of cables extend between the trip bar and the trip lever, and are connected one on either side of the trip bar longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5410923
Abstract: A shift adjusting device includes a cam plate and an arm. The cam plate is pivotable and operatively connected to a change speed interlocking mechanism extending between a shift pedal and a belt type stepless change speed device. The arm has a pin for engaging a control slot formed in the cam plate. The control slot includes an arcuate forward drive slot portion and an arcuate backward drive slot portion. When the switch lever is in a forward drive position, the pin lies in the forward drive slot portion. The forward drive slot portion allows a full stroke depression of the shift pedal, whereby a forward speed may be selected between minimum speed and maximum speed. When the switch lever is in a backward drive position, the pin lies in the backward drive slot portion.

  • Patent number: 5209331
Abstract: A clutch construction for a reversible walk-behind soil compactor. The compactor includes a frame which carries a soil compacting plate and a drive mechanism, such as a gasoline engine is mounted on the frame and has a rotatable drive shaft. A pair of eccentrically weighted shafts are mounted for rotation on the frame and a belt drive connects each eccentric shaft with the drive shaft in a manner to rotate the eccentric shafts in opposite directions. Each belt drive is connected through a clutch to the drive shaft and the clutch is arranged such that each eccentric shaft is individually engaged with the drive shaft. Through manual operation of the clutch, the eccentric shafts are selectively rotated to thereby move the compactor in a forward or reverse direction over the soil to be compacted.

  • Patent number: 5139846
Abstract: The sealing strip has a main part (1') with a first sealing lip (6) for making sealing contact with a pane (7) or a filling element. The pane (7) is placed against the sealing lip (6) during assembly and rests on the top (10) of a lip (9'). A recess (13') is provided in a bridge (4') in the body of the sealing strip. The foot or base (16') is a second part (2'), which carries a second sealing lip (15') in contact with the other side of the pan (7'), fits into the recess. When the foot (16') is inserted into the recess (13'), the two sealing lips (6'15') are elastically deformed and pressed against the pane (7'). The inserted foot has a groove (19, 22) at one end in which a rib (14') engages. The foot (16') and hence the part ( 2') are thus firmly anchored in the main part (1').
