  • Patent number: 8187127
Abstract: A belt-type continuously variable transmission (CVT) with reduced vibration at high engine speeds. A secondary sheave includes a fixed sheave member, a moving sheave member, a compression coil spring, and an outside spring guide. The compression coil spring urges the moving sheave member toward the fixed sheave member. The outside spring guide prevents the compression coil spring from buckling during compression.

  • Patent number: 7699728
Abstract: A variable speed transmission of the continuously variable type. The transmission includes an input pulley having primary and secondary sheaves and an output pulley having primary and secondary sheaves. The primary and secondary sheaves of the input pulley are mounted on a first axle shaft carried by an actuator plate and the primary and secondary sheaves of the output pulley are carried on a second axle shaft carried by the actuator plate. The input shaft of the transmission carries pin mounted roller bearings which are received in skewed slots in an actuator sleeve so that the actuator sleeve is moved axially along the input shaft in response to variations in torque loading. The actuator plate is annular and includes a central circumferential groove receiving pin mounted roller bearings carried by the actuator sleeve so that the actuator plate, and the axle shafts carried thereby, undergoes the same axial movement as the actuator sleeve in response to variations in torque loading.

  • Patent number: 7276003
Abstract: A vertical band saw machine includes a first transmitting shaft driven by a drive force of a motor, a second transmitting shaft journaling a lower blade mounting pulley for rotating an endless band saw blade, and a speed ratio varying device coupling the transmitting shafts. The device includes two pitch-variable first and second pulleys mounted on the transmitting shafts, a belt trained on the pulleys, and a control unit operable to move a movable disc of the second pulley toward or away from a fixed disc of the second pulley so as to vary the radial distance between the belt and each of the transmitting shafts, thereby freely varying the speed ratio of the second transmitting shaft to the first transmitting shaft so as to rotate the saw blade at a desired speed.

  • Patent number: 6578455
Abstract: A wood lathe includes first and second seats disposed respectively and fixedly on two ends of a table. A first driving device includes a motor disposed on the second seat, an outer tube fixed between the first and second seats, and a rotating inner rod journalled within the tube and connected to the motor by a belt and pulley unit. An output shaft is journalled on the first seat, and is provided with a fixed first clamping element. A second clamping element is disposed adjacent to the second seat so as to clamp a workpiece between the first and second clamping elements. A second driving device is disposed within the first seat, and interconnects the shaft and the rod to transfer rotation of the rod to the shaft, thereby rotating the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6557444
Abstract: A wood lathe includes a driving pulley unit disposed around a rotating inner rod, a driven pulley unit disposed around an output shaft that is used to rotate a workpiece, a V-belt unit trained on the driving and driven pulley units, and a speed-adjusting unit. When a rotary knob is rotated, amovable inner half of the driven pulley unit moves toward or away from a fixed outer half of the driven pulley unit so that the V-belt unit moves a movable outer half of the driving pulley unit away from or toward a fixed inner half of the driving pulley unit. As such, the position of the V-belt unit can be adjusted relative to the driving and driven pulley units to change the rotational speed of the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 6203458
Abstract: A speed adjusting device for a drill press includes a first variable pulley mounted to the motor shaft and a second variable pulley mounted to the output shaft with a belt connected between the two variable pulleys. A pressing member is mounted to the second variable pulley and the first end of the pressing member is pivotally connected to a fixed member and the second end of the pressing member is connected to a control device. The control device has a connecting member connected to the second end of the pressing member so that the pressing member exerts a force to the second variable pulley by operating the control device to adjust the effective diameter of the belt in the first and the second variable pulley.
