With Common Belt Concurrently Engaging Input And Plural Output Pulleys Patents (Class 474/87)
  • Patent number: 5913470
Abstract: An electric motor driven roll feed system for intermittently advancing stock into the work station of a punch press. The roll feed system is designed so that its main rotating elements have greatly reduced rotational inertia. A low inertia overall roll arrangement is characterized by two relatively small diameter cooperating feed rolls that are respectively radially supported by a plurality of light back up rollers that peripherally engage these small feed rolls at locations spaced along the operative lengths of such feed rolls. The spaced rollers thus allow the applied operational stock gripping, feeding and braking forces to be distributed over several support locations along the operative axial length of each feed roll.

  • Patent number: 5899373
Abstract: An electrical wire length measuring apparatus is capable of minimizing any error of the wire feed amount of respective wire per each measurement cycle and can realize more accurate length measurement of the wires. The measuring apparatus includes a plurality of wire length measuring roller assemblies that are arranged in parallel arrangement to each other, but extend perpendicular to the wire feed direction. Each of the wire length measuring roller assemblies feed a single wire independent of each other. Each of the wire length measuring roller assemblies are driven by a corresponding toothed belt which in turn is driven by an associated motor. The arrangement of the motors permits the wire measuring roller assemblies to be positioned nearer the outlet end of the apparatus to minimize feeding error.

  • Patent number: 4758206
Abstract: In the case of a cam shaft drive structure in which a cogged belt is passed around a pair of cam shaft pulleys for two cylinder banks of an OHC V-type engine and a crank shaft pulley, it has been widely believed that the tension of the cogged belt resulting from the longitudinal vibration of the cogged belt can be minimized by reducing the masses of the cam shaft pulleys to a least possible value. However, it was discovered by the inventors that it is not necessarily the case and on the contrary a favorable result can be obtained by selecting the moment of inertia of the cam shaft pulley on the tight side to be greater than the moment of inertia of the cam shaft pulley on the slack side. The reverse surface of the cogged belt can be conveniently utilized for driving accessory equipment and for engaging an idler pulley thereto.

  • Patent number: 4559910
Abstract: The crankshaft of an internal combustion engine is supported in a split bearing assembly near one end of the crankshaft, with the lower half of the bearing assembly formed in a bearing holder secured to the engine block. An arcuate flange projects axially towards that end of the crankshaft. The flange underlies a crankshaft pulley which drives a timing belt. The arcuate surface of the flange is struck from a center offset from the crankshaft axis in order to provide clearance for the timing belt. The offset construction also improves the joint seal between the oil pan and the engine block.

  • Patent number: 4459123
Abstract: Around an engine-body of a vehicle, several auxiliary machinery such as an air-conditioner and a power steering-pump are disposed. Pulleys of said auxiliary machinery are driven by means of an endless belt or endless belts by a driving pulley of the engine. In order to obtain the most effective operation of the engine, consideration should be given to the degree of the power loss for driving the auxiliary machinery. For this purpose, according to the present invention, the order by which said several driven pulleys are driven by said driving pulley is determined by the magnitude of the driven torques of the corresponding auxiliary machinery along the running direction of the endless belt toward the driving pulley.

  • Patent number: 4411397
Abstract: Bidirectional tape drive systems have first and second tape drive capstans and first and second tape drives for rotating, respectively, the first and second tape drive capstans. The first capstan is angularly movable relative to the first capstan drive and a first elastic coupling restrains relative angular movement between the first capstan and the first capstan drive. Similarly, the second capstan is angularly movable relative to the second capstan drive and a second elastic coupling restrains relative angular movement between the second capstan and the second capstan drive. In this manner, tape tension is maintained above zero when the bidirectional tape drive changes directions, and excessive tension upon application of the tape assembly to the tape drive is avoided, while tape slack upon removal of the tape assembly from the tape drive is automatically taken up.

  • Patent number: 4296717
Abstract: A drive arrangement for auxiliary aggregates of an internal combustion engine, especially for motor vehicles is constructed as a two-speed drive, that is at operation of the internal combustion engine at low speeds the auxiliary aggregates are driven from the drive shaft of the engine, whereas at operation of the internal combustion engine at high speeds the auxiliary aggregates are driven from the cam shaft of the engine over an intermediate pulley provided with a free wheel clutch. During low speed of the engine the auxiliary aggregates are driven from a pulley freely rotatably mounted on the drive shaft of the engine but connectable thereto by a centrifugal clutch, which at high speed of the drive shaft disconnects the drive of the pulley by the drive shaft of the engine while the free wheel clutch engages. The auxiliary aggregates, respectively the pulleys thereof, are located in one plane with the pulley on the drive shaft and the intermediate pulley.
