Abstract: An improved transmission mechanism for a gymnastic bicycle, in which the loaded fly wheel is mounted on the same shaft of the driving wheel, being in parallel with the same. The mechanism also comprises a set of transmission wheels so as to have the rotation speed ratio between the driving wheel and the loaded fly wheel reached 1:9. This transmission mechanism not only can obtain a high speed exercise result, but also can reduce the dimensions of the loaded fly wheel, and can improve the form of the bicycle, reduce the length of the transmission mechanism, and reduce the whole length of the gymnastic bicycle as well.
Abstract: A refining roll drive for chocolate refining machines, wherein motion is transmitted by means of straight-cog pulleys and cogged drive belts. Two drive motors are provided, one on each side of the machine. One motor drives the odd-located rolls, and the other motor drives the even-located rolls. Any oscillable rolls provided would be carried on a common holder also carrying their respective drive motor.
Abstract: An efficient, narrow profile treadmill motor drive has a thin motor, a two-stage speed reduction using an intermediate countershaft between the motor and drive roller, a dual belt drive for the drive roller which reduces bearing stress, a support base of modular character facilitating removal and repair of the motor drive as a unit, and a motor-shaft mounted flywheel whose rotational inertia is effectively multiplied by the speed reduction ratio.
Abstract: A transmission particularly adapted for use in ultralight aircraft, air boats, home built aircraft or the like has a transmission case within which four gears are contained to provide the requisite speed reduction. A torque input gear is coaxially mounted with an output gear so that the transmission torque input shaft is in axial alignment with the transmission output shaft. A pair of intermediate speed reduction gears are laterally offset from the input and output gears and are mounted on a common jackshaft. One of the intermediate gears is belt driven by the input gear and the other intermediate gear belt drives the output gear to provide the requisite speed reduction. The gears and drive belts are toothed. The use of toothed drive belts and gears provide for positive drive of the transmission components.
Abstract: A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises a pair of rotating circular discs having cooperating friction surfaces for engaging a running yarn at a twisting zone. The drive system for the discs includes a drive component which includes a drive whorl and a coaxial drive pulley, and which is adapted to engage two separate drive belts. The drive component includes a unitary tubular drive member, a central shaft extending through and fixed to the drive member, a sleeve mounted to the frame of the apparatus and extending between the shaft and drive member, and bearings positioned between the shaft and sleeve. Also, the drive component is mounted to the frame by an arrangement which permits adjustment of the rotational axis of the drive whorl about a second axis which perpendicularly intersects the rotational axis, so as to permit accurate alignment of the rotational axis of the whorl along a direction perpendicular to the running direction of the tangential drive belt.
Abstract: Separate pedal cranks are provided for the front and rear riders of a tandem bicycle having a front wheel of substantially smaller diameter than the rear wheel. Such front wheel is carried by a front fork journaled in a steering head directly below the front seat. The front pedal crank is carried at the end of a support arm extending generally horizontally forward from the steering head so that the front rider pedals in a sitting position with his or her legs extending forward. The front fork is connected to a steering shaft journaled in an upright steering post located behind the front seat. A rear seat substantially higher than the front seat is supported on an upright saddle post spaced rearward from the steering post but sufficiently close thereto for steering control of the bicycle by the rear rider.
Abstract: A speed variator for cars of the kind essentially comprising a variable-pitch-circle sheave and a belt and a driven sheave is improved by the provision of two driving half-sheaves which, with their respective driven half-sheaves, and the two belts compose the mechanical part of the variator. Hydraulic or mechanical provide necessary counteracting forces and are controlled by detectors and a transducing system so that the pitch circle diameters of the driving and the driven sheave can be controlled consistently with the variations of any preselected operative parameter of the engine or another part of the vehicle concerned.

Abstract: Apparatus for mixing particulate material in the bed of a truck having a mixing chamber, a plurality of augers rotatably disposed within the chamber, and a plurality of sprockets and chains for driving the augers from power takeoff from the truck. A lower oil tank is attached to a housing that houses the sprockets and chains. The oil tank contains oil. The method comprises utilizing one of the chains to transport some of the oil from the oil tank for self-oiling of the sprockets and the remaining chains.
Abstract: A brake mechanism particularly suited for snowmobile applications wherein an engine drives a primary clutch which is in belted communication with a secondary clutch mounted to secondary clutch shaft, the secondary clutch shaft has a brake disc fixably mounted thereon and has a radial extension into a brake carrier. The brake carrier is slidable on a chain housing having a pair of brake plates including brake pads suspended between opposing carrier walls. By causing one brake pad to contact one side of the brake disc, the carrier housing is moved to bring the other brake pad into contact with the other side of the brake disc.
