The rings are slid on to the shaft with the corners of the shaft aligned with the first ends of the arcs. Then the rings are rotated on the shafts toward the second ends of the arcs until the corners of the shafts jam against the inner edges. When the rollers disengage from the corresponding arms, the distal ends of the arms move radially such that the pulley and the hub relatively rotate without interference by the arms.

    Abstract: A plastic pulley and stub shaft are integrally formed with one another and used as a unitary component in the drive train of a clothes washing machine. In the washing machine, an electric motor is used to drive both an agitator mechanism and a water pump of the washing machine. The pulley has a co-axial bore on one side for receiving a motor shaft of the electric motor. The pulley also has a circumferential groove configured for receiving a belt therearound which is, in turn, connected to the agitator mechanism of the washing machine. The stub shaft extends co-axially from the opposite side of the pulley as the bore. The stub shaft is configured for engaging an impeller of the water pump for driving the water pump. Thus, the electric motor is operatively connected to and drives both the agitator mechanism and the water pump via the integral plastic pulley and stub shaft component.

    Abstract: A new type of the compact freewheel body for bicycle includes a freewheel casing, a ball seat, a hub, two rows of steel balls, an adjusting ring and a clutch located in the hub. The ball ring at the top of a convention freewheel casing is moved to the bottom to become a ball seat. The distance between two rows of steel balls is increased. The freewheel body can be made more compact. Smaller gear seat may be used and thus increasing the speed ratio and improving mechanical strength of the gear set. The wobbling of the freewheel can be effectively reduced to make the freewheel running and gear shifting smoother and more reliable.

These idler camshaft sprockets and the idler sprocket of the crankshaft are all manufactured separately and then placed together on a spline or hub. In this way, the idler sprocket assembly consists of four parts, which eases manufacture and assembly.

    Abstract: A shaft-carried speed reducer is provided having an adaptable mounting arrangement. The hub of the speed reducer is configured having a substantially cylindrical axial bore. At least one annular groove may be defined in the axial bore to receive a snap ring when desired. A removable adapter having a tapered interior surface may then be situated in the hub bore to abut the snap ring. As an alternative to such a snap ring, an annular flange may be provided on the removable adapter to engage an end face of the hub. A tapered sleeve member engages the tapered interior surface defined on the removable adapter to effect securement of the hub to the shaft. If a single adapter is used, it may be inserted from either side of the hub in some configurations. Further, some configurations permit a pair of adapters and corresponding sleeve members to be used. The adapter and snap ring, if any, may be removed when the hub is to be secured to a screw conveyor drive shaft or the like.

The groove and circular flange mate, with very tight fit, with a corresponding flange and groove on the racing pulley and a standard balancer, respectively, to allow transmission of engine torque without shearing the bolts used to assemble the racing pulley-pulley spacer-standard balancer assembly.

    Abstract: A split sprocket and retainer assembly are provided for mounting on the drive shaft of a chain drive system, such as a conveyor drive system. The sprocket is split diametrically into two sections and includes a hub. Cross fixing bolts across the hub secure the two sprocket sections together on the drive shaft. A one-piece retaining ring is positioned over the sprocket hub in snug engagement, and overlying the bolts. The retaining ring absorbs the thrust force generated by the driving torque tending to radially separate the sprocket sections during operation of the drive system. A split outer retainer collar is mounted so as to abut the retaining ring and to secure it in position against axial shifting and backing off the hub.

    Abstract: An improved mechanism for retaining a hub-containing element such as a pulley, fan, gear or the like, on a shaft wherein the shaft has a circumferential groove formed near its end and the element has a hub to engage the shaft with a plurality of flexible fingers formed around and extending onward from the hub. The fingers have a pawl disposed to drop into the circumferential groove on the shaft and thereby secure the element in place. The pawls can be of various configurations so as to both align properly with the groove and to accommodate tolerances in the shaft assembly. A protective collar surrounds the fingers and extends axially from the hub to protect the fingers from entanglement and breakage during manufacture, storage, or transportation. The shaft also has splines formed therein proximate the groove that matingly engage corresponding keyways formed inside the hub so that the shaft positively mates with the hub.

    Abstract: Split sprocket wheels having interlocking tabs for forming a sprocket wheel assembly that is easy to install on and remove from a drive or idler shaft of a belt or chain conveyor. The invention provides thin, durable sprocket wheels split into at least two sectorial sections along seams extending from a central bore to an outer engagement surface. Mating tabs and receptacles at the edges of adjacent sectorial sections interlock the adjacent sections radially and circumferentially. Holes in the vicinity of the mating tabs and receptacles of adjacent interlocked sections admit locking means for holding the sectorial sections together in axial compression. The sprocket wheels can be ganged together at selected positions along a shaft with their bores in coaxial alignment by means of spacers interconnecting consecutive sprocket wheels along the shaft.
