  • Patent number: 11041546
Abstract: A transmission for a vehicle includes a primary transmission arrangement, a transmission housing, an input shaft, and an output shaft. The primary transmission arrangement includes a first, second and third planetary gear set each including a first, a second and a third planetary member, said planetary members being a sun gear, a planet carrier and a ring gear. The transmission arrangement further includes five shift elements engageable in combinations of two to obtain six forward gear stages, wherein the ring gear of the first planetary gear set and the planet carrier of the second planetary gear set are operatively connected to each other, the ring gear of the second planetary gear set and the planet carrier of the third planetary gear set are operatively connected to each other, and two planetary members of the third planetary gear set are selectively connectable to each other.

  • Patent number: 6839617
Abstract: Operating range of feedback in CVT ratio control has been extended by use of stabilized values as an actual value of CVT ratio. The actual value of CVT ratio is derived from first and second pulse train signals provided by input and output speed sensors. Updating of rotational speed of the input member is repeated at intervals governed by the first pulse train. Updating of rotational speed of the output member is repeated at intervals governed by the second pulse train. Updating of an old value of a ratio between the latest value of the rotational speed of the input member and the latest value of the rotational speed of the output member to a new value thereof is repeated each time immediately after the rotational speeds of the input and output members have been updated since the latest updating of an old value of the ratio.

  • Patent number: 6099428
Abstract: A starting apparatus formed by a torque converter is provided between an engine and a continuously variable transmission. A forward and reverse changeover apparatus is formed by a double pinion type planetary gear. Further, a reverse brake is disposed around a ring gear of the planetary gear and a forward clutch is mounted around the reverse brake. A lock-up clutch is provided near the forward clutch. A torque converter case encloses the torque converter, the forward and reverse changeover apparatus, the reverse brake, the forward clutch and the lock-up clutch therein. Since the planetary gear, the reverse brake and the forward clutch are arranged in the radial direction on substantially the same plane, the overall width of the continuously variable automatic transmission can be shortened and the number of components can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6066059
Abstract: A torque converter, a forward and reverse changeover apparatus including a planetary gear, a reverse brake and a forward clutch, and a lock-up clutch are integrally accommodated in the same torque converter case. Further, the planetary gear, the reverse brake, the forward clutch and the lock-up clutch are arranged on approximately the same plane expanded in the radial direction with respect to a transmission input shaft. Further, a forward clutch piston and a lock-up piston are arranged side by side on the transmission main shaft and a hydraulic chamber for operating the lock-up piston is provided independently from other hydraulic circuits. Thus constituted continuously variable automatic transmission provides a transmission having a short width and a good controllability.
