Fluid Circuit Controlled Patents (Class 475/69)
  • Patent number: 8538642
Abstract: A range determination apparatus for preventing a shift range from being undefined during speed change states of an automatic transmission with no manual valve. The range determination apparatus includes a gear speed change mechanism and a plurality of friction engagement elements operative to have respective operation states changed between an engagement and a disengagement state. The range determination apparatus is used for automatic transmissions subject to speed changes via a torque transmission path of the gear speed change mechanism changed by the operation states of the friction engagement elements. A real shift range determination is carried out on the basis of the operation states of the friction engagement elements, where a T-ECU is operative to determine a current shift range based on detection results obtained by oil pressure sensors and operation patterns preliminarily memorized when the operation states of the friction engagement elements are not being changed.

  • Patent number: 7905803
Abstract: In a V-belt continuously variable transmission (CVT) of an ATV, a movable sheave half of a primary sheave is disposed on the outer side in the vehicle width direction with respect to a fixed sheave half, and a sheave drive mechanism for controlling the respective groove widths of the primary sheave and a secondary sheave through a driving force by an electric motor is located on the outer side in the vehicle width direction with respect to the movable sheave half of the primary sheave. A footboard of the ATV is located on the outer side of the V-belt CVT in the vehicle width direction and below a primary sheave shaft and a secondary sheave shaft. A portion of the electric motor is located above and in front of the primary sheave shaft as viewed in the sheave shaft direction. A straddle-type vehicle having the compact, yet durable V-belt continuously variable transmission achieves a speed change operation highly responsive to the vehicle running condition.

  • Patent number: 6474456
Abstract: A hydraulic control apparatus for automatic transmissions, capable of adapting the apparatus to a change in the specifications for a lockup clutch which causes the relationship between the supplying and discharging of a hydraulic pressure for a lockup control operation to be reversed with respect to the connection of oil passages. A valve body of the hydraulic control apparatus is formed by laminating at least two members on each other, and has a valve for regulating a hydraulic pressure supplied to a lockup clutch of a hydraulic transmission unit, a control unit for applying a signal pressure to the pressure regulating valve, a source pressure oil passage for supplying a basic pressure for a pressure regulating operation, and drain oil passage communicated with a drain port. The pressure regulating passage is provided at both sides of a port, which communicates with a lockup oil chamber via an oil passage, with a port communicating with an oil passage, and a port communicating with another oil passage.

  • Patent number: 5178027
Abstract: A bearing structure for an output shaft of an automatic transaxle employs a ball bearing, radial needle bearing and a thrust needle bearing in combination. The ball bearing and the radial needle bearing radially support the output shaft. On the other hand, the thrusting load to be exerted on the output shaft when it is driven by an output torque of the engine is received by the thrust needle bearing, and relatively small thrusting torque in reverse direction is received by the ball bearing. The ball bearing is provided on a side cover which is fixed to a transaxle casing. The radial thrust bearing is radially supported by the inner periphery of an output retainer. The thrust needle bearing is oriented at the opposite side to the ball bearing with respect to the output gear. A generally cylindrical retainer body having an axial end mating with a wall section of a transmission casing has a cylindrical projection extending from the axial end adjacent an inner circumferential edge.

  • Patent number: 4964843
Abstract: In a power-transmission unit for variable-speed drive of machinery with hydro-dynamic speed-superposition of a differential gear a second torque converter is provided as a braking device. This increases the effectiveness of the unit by feedback of the superposed output onto the drive side. Particularly advantageous is the use of an oppposed-motion converter as brake converter for certain operating conditions or the combination of a with-motion converter and an opposed-motion converter in the unit. Furthermore, this makes an extension of the speed control range possible.
