  • Patent number: 7115073
Abstract: An exercise apparatus used to simulate skating or roller blading movement in a user includes a pair of sleds or shuttles which include a pedal adapted to support the foot of a user standing thereon. The shuttles are movable along a respective guide assembly consisting of one or more rails which curve away from each other extending from proximate forwardmost ends, outwardly and rearwardly. The rail assemblies are provided in a substantially mirror arrangement and curve downwardly from their respective forwardmost ends to a lowermost distal portion. A guide member is provided to assist in positioning and maintaining the shuttles in sliding movement along each guide assembly, whereby the reciprocal sliding movement of the shuttles along an associated guide assembly acts to guide the feet of the user in skating or roller blade movement.

  • Patent number: 7112168
Abstract: Balancing equipment that provides a selectively dynamic platform for an individual thereon. The weight and movement of the individual causes the platform to tilt in any direction, thereby attempting to throw off the balance of the individual, causing the individual to work on maintaining balance while on the dynamic platform. The dynamic nature of the platform can be adjusted to correspond to the balancing abilities of individuals. An adjustment mechanism increases or reduces the amount the platform is able to tilt, without requiring the raising or lowering of any component of the platform. An exercise mechanism can also be connected to the platform to further modify the dynamic nature of the platform.

  • Patent number: 7087001
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a portable personal training and exercise device with a cable and pulley mechanism which also is a mobile personal training and exercise device having an ergonomic plastic external housing that with the use of straps fits in the hand as well as against different parts of the body. The present invention has a cable and pulley mechanism inside a housing which has a pulley rotatably mounted on a shaft that spins in only one direction. The pulley spins in both directions so that it is spring biased for rewinding a cord onto the pulley. Next to the pulley is a brake wheel or brake bushing that is attached to the shaft. The brake wheel or brake bushing and a pulley spinning on a single shaft inserts into a sealed ball bearing on both ends. A spring is connected to the bottom of the pulley. In the center of the pulley is a combination ball bearing/one-way clutch that turns the shaft only in one direction. The shaft is attached to the brake wheel or brake bushing.

  • Patent number: 7008357
Abstract: A seat exercise device for use onboard a mobile platform such as a commercial aircraft is disclosed, wherein a passenger engages the exercise device while seated to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) during extended periods of travel. The preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a leg support secured to a passenger seat and a foot support secured to a lower end of the leg support. A trombone spring is secured between the leg support and the foot support such that a passenger may push down on the foot support to flex and contract thigh muscles. Additionally, a pivot spring is secured between the leg support and the foot support such that a passenger may pivot the foot support to flex and contract calf muscles. Accordingly, the flexing and contracting of leg muscles increases blood circulation and reduces the risk of DVT during long flights.

  • Patent number: 6692419
Abstract: An exerciser has a base and a rocking plate. The rocking plate is rotatably attached to the base with a ball joint. Consequently, a user can swing or twist body, rotate ankles and develop feet muscles when the user steps on the rocking plate to keep balance. The exerciser can exercise the lower part of the body of a user. This exerciser is more versatile than the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20040009850
Abstract: A generally rectangular exercise board with curved ends has an upper planer support surface. Beneath the support surface, are two projecting spaced parallel arcuate rockers. Each rocker has a flat portion adjacent to one long edge of the rocker board. The flat sections makes an angle of approximately 45° with the planar surface of the board. A hemispherical projection is formed between the two rockers. A band of rubber is fastened to the board between the rockers which is arranged to accommodate a foot placed between the band of rubber and the bottom surface of the board so the front portion of the foot is elastically biased against the board and exercises can be performed by moving the foot away from the board to induce elastic strain in the band of rubber.

Abstract: A tiltable twisting exerciser includes a base and a cover. The base has a top surface and a bottom surface. There are several fixing recesses disposed on the top surface. A rotatable disk is pivotally disposed the bottom surface. This cover is hinged on a first hinge portion of the base. This cover has an outer surface and an inner surface. A supporting portion is hinged on a second hinge portion which is fixed on the inner surface such that it can rotate out to a desired position. So, the user can do the twisting exercise on a sloped surface. The sloped surface is adjustable. And, it can be easily switch to one of the four operation modes.

Abstract: The present invention provides a muscle strengthening and rehabilitation apparatus and a method for use thereof wherein multiple radii of curvature are used to provide a full three plane range of motion. The apparatus includes a first surface for receiving a patient's extremity and a generally hemi-ellipsoidal second surface for contacting a support surface. The patient applies a force to the extremity on the first surface, and can pivot the apparatus around the second surface in any direction to strengthen and rehabilitate the muscles of the extremity.

Abstract: An exercise device for leg exercises comprising a pair of foot pedals connected to actuation rods. While an operator is in a seated position, the operator uses their foot to apply pressure to the foot pedals so that the rod telescopes into and out of a bearing block in response to the applied pressure. A crossbar, elevated off ground by a pair of arched base bars, supports the bearing block for the telescoping oscillations.

  • Patent number: 6592497
Abstract: A leg column extends between a user's legs, and a connected foot column extends front to back between the user's feet. Front and rear foot rods beneath the foot column bear against the soles of a user's feet. Cushioned front, rear and upper weight rods are connected to the leg and foot columns to bear against the foot above the user's toes, the user's feet above the heels and the lower legs at the shins, respectively. Barbell weights are removably connected to the weight rods. The relationships of the foot rods and weight rods are adjustable to suit a particular user. The leg barbell is completely free from connection to any fixed structure and, although secured to the user's legs and feet for a variety of exercises, is readily disengaged. The weight rods and foot rods may be connected with telescoping mounting members or perforated barstock to facilitate convenient adjustment.

Abstract: An exercise apparatus that contains a frame and a carriage that moves back and forth along the length of the frame. The movement of the carriage along the frame is resisted by springs that join the carriage to the frame. Two foot support platforms are provided. The first foot support platform extends upwardly from the top of the carriage. The first foot support platform has an adjustable incline and contains a bar that uniformly extends across the width of the carriage a predetermined distance above the top surface of the carriage. The second foot support platform extends above the frame in front of the carriage. Side railings are also provided on either side of the frame. By providing both the unique structure of the first and second foot support platforms and the side railings, a person can not only lie on the moving carriage, but also can stand and kneel between the frame and the moving carriage. As such, a larger variety and diversity of exercises can be performed.
