  • Patent number: 11317824
Abstract: A wearable device and system has been developed to help users learn the practices of diaphragmatic breathing and breathing patterns to improve running and walking performance. The wearable has a breathing sensor (breathe in-breathe out) and a movement sensor used to identify foot strikes. A processor computes the number of foot strikes occurring while inhaling and the number of foot strikes occurring while exhaling to report breathing patterns as a function of time. The algorithms may be modified to teach breathing patterns to athletes in other sports and deep breathing for numerous movement and minimal movement applications.

  • Patent number: 11305157
Abstract: A weight training method, a weight training apparatus and a weight training system are provided. In the method, a weight of a load of a user operating the weight training apparatus is detected by a load sensor, a motion of the load is detected by an activity sensor, and thereby an operation power of the weight training apparatus is calculated. A force applied by the muscle portion when the user operates the weight training apparatus is detected by at least one biophysical quantity sensor disposed on at least one muscle portion of the user and used to calculate an energy power consumed by the user. An exercise efficiency value of the user is calculated by using the energy power and the operation power, and the user is prompted to adjust an operation performed on the weight training apparatus when the exercise efficiency value drops beyond a preset ratio.

Abstract: A method provides an interactive training environment for athletic activities performed on an exercise device. A workout plan is selected or generated, having a plurality of sequential intervals, each having at least one training parameter, such as intensity. A virtual training world is generated, having a virtual training surface divided into a plurality of sequential intervals, each interval having an inclination that is a function of the training parameter associated with the respective intervals of the workout plan. World features, which may include turns in the training surface, may be pseudo-randomly generated. A visual representation of the virtual training world is displayed and represents a participant position in the virtual training world. The participant position is synchronized based on speed, distance traveled, or elapsed time. Feedback indicia are displayed to the participant, such as interval markers indicating borders or transitions between the sequential intervals.

The sensor data is analyzed and compared to a pre-determined result and if the sensor data substantially matches the pre-determined result, a reward command is sent to the patient-side device that causes a resumption of the operation of the entertainment circuitry on the patient-side device.

  • Patent number: 10976180
Abstract: Systems and methods detect steps from one or more sensed accelerometer signals. Systems comprise an accelerometer and a non-transitory computer readable medium, each of which communicates with a processor. The accelerometer is coupled to an individual and generates outputs received by the processor. The non-transitory computer readable medium stores instructions controlling the processor to perform steps of a method. The processor determines a minimum and a maximum reading for respective time periods. Counted peak heights are maxima that exceed a rest threshold. The rest threshold may be a function of the rest maximum. The processor determines a peak threshold for each time period having a counted peak height. A counted amplitude comprises the difference between the maximum reading and minimum readings of a time period in which the counted peak height exceeds the peak threshold. The processor increments a step counter when a counted amplitude exceeds an amplitude threshold.
