Patent number: 11248417Abstract: A vertically folding barrier gate arm has a proximal first segment and a distal second segment connected by a pivot hinge allowing them to fold. An extension set pivotally affixed to an outer offset bracket on the housing for the motor of the gate arm is connected to an outer offset bracket on the distal gate arm segment by a multi-articulated compound hinge formed by a plurality of links attached to each other by hinges providing a constrained range of rotation relative to each other. The gate arm translates from a fully extended position where the proximal and distal gate arm segments are parallel and co-linear along a horizontal longitudinal axis, to a vertically folded position where the proximal and distal gate arm segments lie substantially against each other within the plane of rotation of the first segment.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2020Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Inventors: Jonathan Brinkman, Randy Perez

Publication number: 20140352219Abstract: Security insert panels for sliding glass doors and windows. The panels include rigid elements appropriately spaced to allow air ventilation and to prevent human entry. After a sliding door is opened, two panels are installed in vertically stacked relation, within the open portion of the door frame and with one side of both panels within the door jamb. The door is slid within open channels on the other side of the panels. A limit stop is inserted in the bottom channel of the door frame, between the other side of the door and the door frame, preventing the door from being opened. At least one of the panels is adjustable in height, to accommodate sliding doors and windows of different dimensions, and to provide a snug fit for the panels within the upper and lower channels of the door frame. The panels are easily removed by reversing the installation process.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 21, 2014Publication date: December 4, 2014Inventor: Robert L. Zieske

Patent number: 8176677Abstract: An automated guide rail apparatus includes a fixed wall that includes a pair of vertical supports attached to and extending upwardly from a floor surface and a horizontal support attached to the vertical supports. The fixed wall is positioned adjacent to a hazardous area. A movable wall is attached to the fixed wall and is movable laterally toward or extended away from the fixed wall to increase or decrease a combined length of the fixed and movable walls. The movable wall prevents access to the hazardous area when the movable wall is extended away from the fixed wall. A drive assembly is mounted on the fixed wall and moves the movable wall outwardly from the fixed wall when the drive assembly is actuated. An actuating assembly is in communication with the drive assembly to actuate the drive assembly when a hazardous condition is determined by the actuating assembly.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2008Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Inventor: Baron H. Blackmon, III

Patent number: 6997417Abstract: A railroad crossing gate with a gate assembly. An extendible member slides within an outer member with minimal friction. When the gate is in its open position, gravity retracts the extendible member to hollow member. When the gate is in its blocking position, gravity causes the extendible member to move out of the hollow member to a final blocking position.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2003Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Inventor: Nicholas Zarkades

Patent number: 5749172Abstract: The subject assembly is intended for use in selectively closing in balconies and is made up of an upper guide, a lower guide and several panel subassemblies. The upper guide is attached to the ceiling of the balcony and the lower guide to the floor or top of the railing. Each panel subassembly is made up of a rectangular glass panel, an upper fitting attached to its upper edge, and a lower fitting attached to its lower edge. One guide fitting and one pivoted guide fitting assembly are attached to the upper fitting and two guide fitting assemblies, one pivoted, are attached to the lower fitting. The guide fitting and fitting assemblies slide in the guides. The pivoted guide fitting assemblies allow the subassemblies to pivot about an axis near one vertical edge. A roller is attached to each guide fitting assembly on the lower fitting and the rollers carry the weight of the panel subassemblies. One panel subassembly is permanently positioned at the retracted end of the guides.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1995Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Inventor: Jouko Isopahkala

Patent number: 4179848Abstract: A horizontally positioned restraining bar which has at each end a spring biased guiding member. The bar is located in the access opening of a magazine compartment, bookcase, storage bin or the like which is provided with vertically mounted rails at the vertical sides of the access opening. The bar is slidingly arranged by the guiding members in the rails and positioned at a predetermined horizontal level within the access opening for restraining objects from falling out of the compartment. By manually raising the bar, an object can be retrieved from the compartment after which the bar automatically will return to its previous restraining level by gravity. The apparatus is particularly designed for use on airplanes, moving vehicles, etc. and is provided with features to assure a rattle free and noiseless operation as well as quick installation and removal features.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1978Date of Patent: December 25, 1979Inventor: Richard F.
